Head coach Sam Poole has been busy this summer recruiting and his hard work paid off on the international front as the second-year women’s tennis coach announced the signings of three student-athletes for the upcoming season in Raina Halabi (Beamsville, ON/Niagara Academy of Tennis), Julia Fernandes (Mississauga, ON/ John Fraser) and Elena Strakhova (Penza, Russia/#216 “Didakt”).

By all accounts, it was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Titan women’s tennis team. After all, Detroit ended the 2008-09 season with a school record 15 victories and the team’s first-ever appearance in the Horizon League Championship match.

A great season came to an end for the Detroit Titans women’s tennis team as UIC was able to elude UDM’s championship bid for the second straight year coming away with a 4-0 decision on Sunday afternoon.
