University of Detroit Mercy head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher will make her debut at the helm of the Titans program as UDM will open up its 2008-09 campaign at Cincinnati on Nov. 14 with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
The Titans return four starters from last year's squad in seniors Sandi Brown (Toledo, OH/Start) and Zemora Davis (Detroit, MI/Community), along with juniors Chanica Hall (Minneapolis, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) and Heather Hatter (Howell, MI/Howell). Brown ended the 2007-08 season first among teammates with 11.0 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per contest and 52 total steals, while Davis closed out last year fourth among teammates in scoring average (7.9 ppg) and total assists (36).
UDM is 14-16 all-time in the first game of the year since the 1977-78 season and the Titans are 4-10 when those contests happen on the road. The last time Detroit won its season opener was on Nov. 18, 2005 when the Titans edged Western Carolina, 75-72, at Calihan Hall. UDM opened up the 2003-04 season on the road at Toledo and the Titans claimed a 50-49 victory over the Rockets, which marks the last time Detroit won its season opener away from its home court.
The Titans are 2-5 all-time against Cincinnati, including a 71-55 loss on Nov. 26, 2005 on the Bearcats home court. The last time Detroit defeated Cincinnati was on Dec. 27, 1986 by a score of 85-66 in Detroit.
Cincinnati finished the 2007-08 season with a 12-16 overall record and tied for 14th in the BIG EAST. The Bearcats also return four starters, including junior guard Kahla Roudebush who averaged 16.5 points per game, 5.5 rpg and 2.4 apg.
Following the match-up with the Bearcats, the Titans will face Michigan State in East Lansing on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.
