The Detroit Titans will look to bounce back from its season-opening loss to tenth-ranked Purdue when UDM heads to Kalamazoo to face in-state rival Western Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
The game will be televised by Fox Sports Detroit, one of three games this season on the network. Dan Dickerson, the lead play-by-play voice of the Detroit Tigers, will have the call along with former Michigan Wolverine standout Dugan Fife. Fans can also catch the action on the air at WDTW-AM 1310, with Matt Dery on the call.
The Titans have dropped their last two games to the Broncos, including a 60-59 decision at home a year ago. Detroit still leads the all-time series 24-22, but are 6-10 in Kalamazoo since 1938. The last time UDM defeated WMU on the road was in 2000, when Detroit claimed a 67-56 victory.
ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN
Western Michigan comes into the game at 0-3, dropping all three of its contests at the Charleston Classic. The Broncos fell to TCU, 67-63, to Hofstra, 71-68 and to SIU-Edwardsville, 83-72.
WMU was picked to win the MAC West in the MAC men's basketball pre-season poll. The Broncos were also ranked #24 in the Mid-Major Top 25 pre-season poll, released by CollegeInsider.com.
Western Michigan is led by junior guard David Kool, senior guard Shawntes Gary and junior center Donald Lawson. Kool, who has started the season with three-straight 20+ point performances, was tabbed a pre-season All-MAC selection and currently leads the team in scoring (24.3) and assists (4.0).
Gary is tied for the team lead with 7.3 rebounds per game to go along with 11 points per contest, while Lawson is averaging 6.3 rpg., 7.3 ppg., and a team best five blocks.
Steve Hawkins is in his sixth season as head coach at Western Michigan, where he owns a a 95-66 (.589) overall record. During his tenure, he has led the Broncos to three post-season appearances.

The Titans own an all-time record of 253-135 (.650) against school's from the “Great Lakes State”.
MCCALLUM SUCCESSFUL AGAINST MICHIGAN, WMU

Ray McCallum has always had success against Michigan schools, especially Western Michigan. In his prior head coaching stops, McCallum was 31-19 against schools from this state, including a 11-3 mark verses Western Michigan.

The UDM -WMU match-up is currently the Titans longest consecutive series against a non-conference opponent. Tuesday's game will be the 15th straight year the two teams have met. Next up on the Titans' consecutive opponents list is Chicago State at five-straight years and Eastern Michigan at four. Both of those teams are slated to play UDM this year.
KENNEDY 'S BIG DEBUT

Thomas Kennedy showed that he was ready for Division I competition. An NJCAA All-American a year ago while playing at Mott Community College (MI), Kennedy netted a team-high 18 points against #10 Purdue in his first game as a Titan, the most markers in a UDM debut since Brandon Cotton had 27 against Eastern Michigan on Dec. 20, 2004.
The 6-7 forward scored the Titans' first basket of the year, a three, and notched nine of the teams first 11 points. He finished the game 7-of-13 from the field and 4-of-8 from downtown.
