SERIES RECORD
Detroit has a 2-0 advantage in the overall series with Canisius. The last time these two teams met was on Dec. 4, 1993 and the Titans won by a score of 69-61 in Buffalo, NY. The previous season Detroit claimed a 77-55 victory at Calihan Hall on Jan. 7.
ABOUT CANISIUS
The Golden Griffins head into Sunday's match-up with a 7-4 overall record, including a 4-1 mark when playing on their home court. Canisius has won its past four games, including a 68-67 overtime win at Rhode Island on Dec. 22. The Golden Griffens have played two Horizon League teams thus far this season and dropped a 63-59 decision at UIC (Nov. 25) and then claimed a 56-38 victory against Youngstown State (Dec. 17) in Buffalo. Senior Marie Warner averages a team-best 16.7 points per game, as well as 6.0 rebounds per contest.
HELPING OUT, AGAIN

Jalesa Jones not only made a key lay-up in the closing seconds of the second overtime to help secure Detroit's one-point victory over Eastern Michigan, she also tallied a team-high and personal-best 10 assists on Dec. 20.

TWO EXTRA SESSIONS
Prior to Detroit's 76-75 double-overtime win at Eastern on Dec. 20, 2008, the last time the Titans played in a double overtime contest was a 107-102 setback to Kentucky on Dec. 28, 1983 in Detroit.
WELCOME BACK
This is the second time this season that Detroit has played in the Empire State as the Titans defeated Colgate in Hamilton, NY, by a score of 61-51 on Nov. 29 and then dropped a 62-49 decision at Albany two days later.
PLENTY OF POINTS
The 76 point showing at Eastern Michigan on Dec. 20 marks the most points the Titans have scored in a single game since a 78-65 victory against Wright State in Detroit on Feb. 19, 2004.
NON-CONFERENCE FINALE
Since the first year of the Horizon League (2001-02), Detroit is 4-3 overall in its final non-conference game and 3-3 when these contests are played away from Calihan Hall. The last time the Titans won their final non-conference game away from Detroit was a 78-64 defeat over Jackson State on Dec. 18, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV.
FROM THE FIELD
The Titans shot a season second-best 45 percent from the field at Eastern Michigan on Dec. 20. Detroit's best field goal percentage showing thus far this season was a 48 percent effort against #23 Georgia in Detroit on Nov. 22.

Two Titans have started every game for Detroit this season in junior
Brigid Mulroy and freshman
Jalesa Jones. Mulroy is averaging a team-best 12.0 points per game, while Jones has tallied a team-high 39 assists through 10 games.
LAST TIME OUT
For the first time in 27 years, the Detroit Titans women's basketball team defeated Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti as the Titans held off the Eagles in double-overtime, 76-75, on Dec. 20 at the Convocation Center. The last time UDM defeated EMU on the road was on Dec. 2, 1981 when the Titans claimed a 52-47 victory.
With the game tied at 72 in the second overtime, freshman
Jalesa Jones put the ball on the deck, made a spinning move to the hoop and connected on a lay-up while being fouled in the process to give Detroit a 74-72 lead with 15 seconds remaining. Jones missed the ensuing free-throw, but senior
Sandi Brown grabbed the offensive board to maintain possession for the Titans. After an EMU foul on the in-bounds play, junior
Brigid Mulroy calmly knocked down both free throws to extend UDM's lead to four, 76-72. Eastern's freshman Tavelyn James hit a 3-pointer to pull the Eagles within one, 76-75, but Detroit was able to in-bound the ball and hold on for the win.
In the first half, Detroit jumped out to a 7-0 lead heading into the first media time out, which was aided by Mulroy's two 3-point buckets. The Titans then extended their lead to 13-2 as Mulroy and freshman
Lauren Allen connected on a triple each and on the defensive end, UDM held EMU to only two points over the first 13 minutes of play.
Down the stretch, Detroit outscored EMU 29-22 to take a 41-24 advantage into the lockerroom. The Titans shot a blistering 5-of-9 (55 percent) from behind the arc and 48 percent from the field on 16-for-33 shooting in the first stanza.
EMU sophomore Cassie Schrock hit a jumper with just over a minute to go in regulation and then connected on another 2-pointer with 17 seconds left to tie the game at 66.
In the first overtime frame, Jones and Brown opened up scoring putting UDM up 70-66 before EMU tied the contest on two made senior Shana McKinney free throws.
Detroit's 76 points was the team's highest offensive output of the season as six Titans scored in double figures and were led by Washington who collected 14 points. Mulroy tallied 13 points, while Brown added 12 on a 6-of-9 showing from the field. Allen and junior
Chanica Hall also chipped in 11 points each, while Jones dished out a game-high 10 assists. For the game, UDM shot 44 percent from the floor on 31-for-69 shooting from the floor.
WHERE ARE THE TITANS?
Prior to the game on Dec. 23, junior
Brigid Mulroy was 12th among conference peers in scoring average (12.0 ppg), while senior
Sandi Brown was tied for 18th (10.8 ppg). In addition, Mulroy was seventh in 3-point FG percentage (.381) and third in 3-pointers made (2.4). Brown was ninth in free throw percentage (.793), while freshman
Jalesa Jones owned 3.9 assists per contest (3rd).
VS. RANKED TEAMS
The Detroit Titans made history on Nov. 22 as UDM defeated #23 Georgia by a score of 70-66 at Calihan Hall. This marked the first time since the conference changed its name to the Horizon League (2001-02) in which the Titans defeated a ranked opponent. UDM now owns a 1-11 mark in this category.
GOING BACK IN TIME
Detroit's win over Southeastern Conference member school, Georgia, was the first win against an SEC school since Nov. 23, 1979 when the Titans defeated Louisiana State by a score of 84-76 in Detroit. Prior to Saturday's victory, the Titans had lost 13 straight to SEC schools.
COACHING DEBUT AT HOME
Autumn Rademacher coached her first game for the Titans on UDM's home court against #23 Georgia and Detroit came out on the winning end, 70-66. Since the start of UDM women's basketball (1977-78), Rademacher and the eight full-time head coaches prior, now own a collective 4-5 record in their coaching debut on Detroit's home court.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
Freshman
Lauren Allen collected her first career double-double as she netted a team third-best 13 points and tied for a game-high 11 rebounds against Georgia (Nov. 22). Allen also dished out a team second-best five assists.
DETROIT INKS THREE
UDM head coach Autumn Rademacher announced that three student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Titans, beginning with the 2009-10 season. The signees are: Demeisha Fambro (G, 5-9, Detroit, MI/Crockett Tech), Kassandra Hooten (F, 6-0, Moorhead, MN/Moorhead) and Cherridy Thornton (F, 6-1, Detroit, MI/Frank Cody Senior).
FINAL FOUR IN DETROIT
The University of Detroit Mercy will serve as the host institution for the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Final Four, which will be held on April 4 & 6, 2009 at Ford Field in Detroit, MI.
