The Titans (2-5, 0-2 HL) fell behind right from the start as Green Bay took an early 7-2 lead. Detroit fought back to knot the game at 7-7 at the 14:52 mark, but then went the next five minutes without scoring as the Phoenix tallied eight straight points to go out in front, 15-7.

Green Bay (5-2, 2-0 HL) would later extend its advantage to as many as 11, 23-12, but eight unanswered points by the Titans got the red, white and blue back within three, 23-20, with 17 minutes left in the game. The Phoenix then went on a 23-2 spurt to break the game wide open, taking a 46-22 lead with 11 minutes left.

Detroit did have one final run left in it. Trailing by 17, 55-38, with four minutes to go, senior Chris Hayes (Chicago, IL/Mt. Carmel) hit two 3-pointers and junior Thomas Kennedy (Detroit, MI/Southeastern) netted a bucket and the Titans were down by only nine, 55-46 with 1:35 showing on the clock. Detroit even forced a turnover on the next Green Bay possession, but that was followed by a Titan turnover with 50 seconds left in the game. A pair of late free throws by the Phoenix then closed out the night.
