With just a few weeks left before hosting the Horizon League Championships, the Detroit Titans men's and women's cross country teams will head across the state to run in the Michigan Intercollegiate tomorrow at the Gainey Athletic Complex at Calvin College.
The race was first held in 1930 and will feature an 8k course for the men and a 5k for the women. Over 25 teams will be in the event, including all seven Division I schools in the state along with perennial Division II power Grand Valley State and the host Knights, whose women's team is ranked No. 1 in Division III and men's squad is No. 15 in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
The men's team will not run a full varsity squad as a portion of the team will train for the championships this weekend. Senior
Alex Gould will lead the team into action as he returns to his hometown area.
For the women's team, senior
Beata Gorzynska continues to shine in her final season as she was the first Titan in for the third straight race, taking 107th in 19:15 last week. She helped lead a quartet of harriers that finished under 20 in freshman
Alexandria Vintevoghel (19:19), junior
Kristie Ferrans (19:42) and sophomore
Stephanie Rossman (19:57).
