SERIES RECORD
Detroit leads the overall series with Oakland, 9-6. The last time these two teams met, the Grizzlies won by a score of 57-45 at Calihan Hall on Dec. 7, 2003 and UDM's last victory over OU was two years earlier on Dec. 3 by a score of 70-55 on the Titans home court. The last time that Detroit has won in Rochester was on Feb. 1, 1984 by a score of 78-65. Following this win, the next meeting on the Grizzlies home court did not occur until Dec. 29, 1998.
ABOUT OAKLAND
Oakland played in two exhibition games earlier in the month and defeated Ferris State, 60-50, on Nov. 1 at the Athletics Center O'Rena and then captured an 88-54 victory over visiting Western Ontario eight days later. The Grizzlies finished out the 2008-09 campaign with a 26-7 overall record and a 16-2 mark in Summit League play to finish second in the conference. OU returns three starters and eight letterwinners from last season.
WHAT A TURNAROUND
Detroit finished the 2008-09 campaign with a 12-19 overall record, which was a six-game turnaround from the previous season. In addition, the Titans also bettered their Horizon League mark by four games (7-11) from 2007-08 to finish eighth in the conference.
THEY'RE BAAAACK
The Titans return one true senior from last year's squad, along with five sophomores. Guard
Brigid Mulroy is the lone senior for the Titans this season and the sophomores are guards
Lauren Allen,
Jalesa Jones and
Sierra Spaude, along with forwards
Yar Shayok and
Talicia Washington. Unfortunately, Washington suffered a season-ending injury in Detroit's exhibition game on Nov. 4.
NEW FACES
The Titans welcome three freshmen to this year's team in
Demeisha Fambro,
Kassandra Hooten and
Cherridy Thornton. In addition, junior
Tayler Langham joins the roster after transferring to Detroit from Schoolcraft College. Sophomore
Dominique Dixon also transferred to Detroit from West Virginia, but will be sitting out the 2009-10 season due to the NCAA transfer rule.
BIG TEN TEAMS TO CALIHAN
Michigan State and Michigan will both visit Calihan Hall this year, which is the first time since the 2001-02 season in which Detroit has hosted both Big Ten teams. The Titans open up their home season against MSU (Nov. 15) and will then host the Wolverines on Dec. 19.
NEW TO THE STAFF
Mike Geary enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Detroit women's basketball team. Geary brings with him more than 21 years of college coaching experience as both a head coach and assistant coach.
PEACHY KEEN
Detroit and Georgia will have a rematch this year on Dec. 22 in Athens. Last season, the Titans captured a historic 70-66 victory over then 23rd-ranked Georgia at Calihan Hall on Nov. 22.
YOU LOOK FAMILIAR
When the Titans square-off with Michigan in December, it will pit a former mentor against a mentee as Detroit head coach Autumn Rademacher coached under Michigan head coach Kevin Borseth for three seasons (2004-07) while he was at the helm of Green Bay's women's team.
HORIZON LEAGUE NETWORK
All of Detroit's home games and every road conference contest for the Titans will be televised on the Horizon League Network this year.

Nine of the 13 players on this year's roster are from Michigan. They include: sophomores

Jalesa Jones (Detroit) and
Talicia Washington (Auburn Hills), seniors
Brigid Mulroy (West Bloomfield) and
Heather Hatter (Howell), junior
Tayler Langham (Plymouth), along with freshmen
Demeisha Fambro (Detroit) and
Cherridy Thornton (Detroit).
LAST TIME OUT
A torrid getaway and senior guard
Brigid Mulroy's 19 points – all in the first half – fueled the Titans' 85-61 victory over visiting Saginaw Valley State on Nov. 4 in Detroit's lone exhibition game of the 2009 pre-season.
Freshman
Demeisha Fambro tossed in 18 more for the Titans, while sophomore
Yar Shayok (16), sophomore
Lauren Allen (13) and freshman
Kassandra Hooten (10) also posted double figures for Detroit. Shayok completed an impressive double-double by collecting 20 rebounds.
Guard Kelly Wesp paced three Cardinals in double figured with 13 points.
Behind a barrage of three-pointers, the Titans opened up a 17-1 lead in the first four-and-a-half minutes before SVSU even made a shot from the field, and UDM kept the lead the rest of the way. Mulroy did the heavy lifting in the early going, connecting on four of her first five shots from the floor to score 11 of the Titans' opening 17 points. The Cardinals, meanwhile, missed their first four attempts while also committing three turnovers in the early going before finally connecting.
“We made a conscious effort to find Brigid on the floor,” Titans coach Autumn Rademacher said. “Her strength is her three-point shot and, when we get in the paint, if she is open we know where to get the ball. That's what we did during the first run.”
Saginaw Valley made three runs at UDM after the Titans' quick start though, cutting Detroit's lead to six on three occasions before ending the half with a 45-38 deficit. It took the Titans just 4:08 to push their lead back into double figures following intermission, though, and the visitors never crept closer than 10 the rest of the night before Detroit settled for its 24-point victory
Detroit shot .429 from the floor – making 11 of 28 attempts from three-point territory – while holding SVSU to .379 accuracy. Detroit outrebounded the Cardinals, 52-38, and had just 13 turnovers as compared to the visitors' 19 miscues.
DETROIT INKS TWO
University of Detroit Mercy head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher has announced that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Titan squad, beginning with the 2010-11 season. The signees are: Megan Hatter (F, 6-0, Howell, MI/Howell) and Senee Shearer (G, 5-7, Detroit, MI/Pershing). Hatter is the sister of current Titan,
Heather Hatter.
