Mulroy Receives "The People's Choice" Honor

Senior guard Brigid Mulroy (West Bloomfield, MI/Marian) added to her accolades for the week as she garnered the most votes to earn "The People's Choice" honor from the Horizon League Network. Mulroy is currently spotlighted in the featured video on the HLN Web site via phone interview.

"It's always an honor being considered for any award," said Mulroy. "I'm kind of in awe of everything that's happened in the past week. I can't say enough about my coaches and my teammates and their role in what happened over the week and I definitely would not have any of these awards if it wasn't for them. It's also nice for women's basketball to get the recognition that it deserves."

Mulroy became eligible for this honor after being selected as the Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week this past Monday for her efforts on the court in Detroit's season opening week.

Mulroy averaged 20.5 points on the week, which included a team third-best 14-point effort in Detroit's 74-65 win at Oakland on Friday. Two days later, in Detroit's home opener, she shot 8-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-5 from long range, and made all seven attempts at the line to end with a career-high and game-best 27 points versus #10 Michigan State. The eight made field goals matches her career-high and the seven free throws is a new personal best for Detroit's lone senior.

The three other athletes in the conference that were up for 'The People's Choice' were: Wright State's Todd Brown (MBB), Milwaukee's Kerri Schuh (VB) and Wright State's Stefanie Shiramizu (VB).

"The People's Choice" is a weekly segment on HLN that allows fans to choose which athlete they believed had the most outstanding week among the Horizon League's Athletes of the Week. Voting is open from Monday around noon through Tuesday afternoon each week, with an interview with the winner posted on HLN Thursday afternoon.

The Titans will return to action when they face Cincinnati at Fifth Third Arena in Ohio on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m.
