Buoyed by three victories over the weekend at the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer and four straight wins overall, the Titans cracked the ranks of this week's Mid-Major Top 25, as picked by CollegeInsider.com.
Ranked 20th, the Titans are one of five new teams in latest mid-major poll, joined in that category by Cal State Fullerton, Ohio, Northern Colorado and Murray State. Detroit's Horizon League rival, Butler, returned to first place in the poll, while a second HL team, Wright State, stands 13th.
Detroit defeated Robert Morris, host Albany and Alcorn State in the 2K Sports Classic sub-regional. Titans center Eli Holman was named MVP of the event, and was joined on the All-Tournament team by forward Xavier Keeling.
The CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 is in its 11th year of existence. The poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast. Thirty-one head coaches do the weekly balloting.

Armed with their longest stretch of consecutive wins since 2004-05, the Titans are idle until Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Chicago and take on DePaul. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. (EST).
