Friends of the Titans information
Come be a part of the University of Detroit Mercy's newest group, The Friends of the Titans, as they team up with The Detroit RiverFront Conservancy for a fundraiser during the “We are Detroit” celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 8, when the men's basketball team takes on Tennessee State.
UDM is off to its best start (4-1) since 2000-01 and is currently ranked #20 in the Mid-Major Top 25, released by CollegeInsider.com. The game against the Tigers will tip-off at 7:05 p.m., at Calihan Hall with tickets priced at $10, with a majority of the proceeds benefiting the Conservancy. Other live entertainment on the night will be performed by Detroit's own Les Williams, a master pianist and vocalist, Rayse Biggs, one of the most dynamic horn players in today's world, and a relatively new singing talent, Annie Pichan, a young soulful new face in Detroit's music industry.
The Conservancy, which has been working since 2003 to transform Detroit's Riverfront into more than three miles of Riverfront of accessible and developed Riverfront, is a leader in this transformation.
The Friends of the Titans (FOT), created by University of Detroit alum Albert Taylor Nelson, Jr., is a group that believes wide-based support of UDM Athletics by all metro Detroiters irrespective of university affiliation, can serve as a catalyst for the revitalization of Detroit. The FOT encourages those who share a vision for a new Detroit to come together and rally behind the Conservancy and the only NCAA Division I college basketball team in Detroit!
Interested attendees can contact the Titan Athletics office at 313.993.1700 to purchase single and large groups of tickets to be a part of this festive occasion where one city treasure supports another.
