University of Detroit Mercy head women's lacrosse coach
Mary Ann Meltzer has announced that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for Titans, beginning with the 2010-11 season. The signees are:
Jenna Alberts (MF/D, 5-6, Alamo, CA/Monte Vista) and
Morgan Lear (D, 5-3, San Ramon, CA/Dougherty Valley).
"I'm very excited that Morgan and Jenna will be joining our team next year," said Meltzer. "They're very talented athletes who work extremely hard. They both also have a very strong work ethic and are all about putting in the effort to make themselves better, which means that they'll be a great addition to Detroit's women's lacrosse program."
Jenna Alberts (MF/D, 5-6, Alamo, CA/Monte Vista)
Will graduate from Monte Vista High School in 2010… Two-year varsity letterwinner in lacrosse… Mustangs were East Bay Athletic League undefeated champions and North Coast Section Champions junior year… Garnered East Bay Athletic League Honorable Mention Honors in 2009… Mustangs finished second for the North Coast Section sophomore season… California High School Lax Bush-Braveheart winner in 2008… Earned Coach's Award on JV squad in 2007… Played three years (2007-09) for the Triple Threat Club Team, along with fellow signee, Morgan Lear… Club team was crowned Sandstorm Tournament Champions in 2009… Guest player for the Blue Dog Club, Cascade Cup Champions, this past summer… Triple Threat placed second at the Mid-Atlantic Tournament in 2008.
Morgan Lear (D, 5-3, San Ramon, CA/Dougherty Valley)
Will graduate from Dougherty Valley High School in 2010… Attended California High School freshman year where she played junior varsity lacrosse for the Grizzlies… Member of the Triple Threat Club Team from 2007-09… Earned MVP at Palm Springs Tournament in 2007… Club team won the Palm Springs Tournament in 2008 and '09, along with the Galaxy Tournament in Delaware this past summer… Triple Threat came in second in both the Mid-Atlantic Tournament (MD) in 2008 and the Diane Whipple Tournament (Moraga, CA)… Earned two varsity letters in track at DVHS… Became first varsity athlete to advance to the North Coast Section for track junior season… Earned Most Improved Player honors for track in 2009… Garnered the Wildcat Award junior season… Wildcat representative in 300-meter hurdles at the Meet of Champions in 2008… Played two years of varsity volleyball (2007-09), as well as soccer (2007-09)… Served as Editor-in-Chief for yearbook last three years at DVHS… Currently the ASB Vice President.
