BROWN EARNS CONFERENCE HONOR
Senior Sandi Brown was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team to become the 16th Titan in Detroit history to be recognized in this category, dating back to when the conference was known as the MCC (1986-87). Brown closed out the regular season ranked in the top 10 among conference peers in seven categories: third in scoring (13.0 ppg), fifth in rebounding (6.7 rpg), fifth in free throw percentage (.786), sixth in blocked shots (0.8 bpg), sixth in offensive (2.4) and defensive (4.3) rebounds and seventh in steals (2.2 spg). The last time a Detroit player garnered this honor was Joyce Massey in 2007. In addition, Brown was named Horizon League Player of the Week on March 9 for her efforts against the Chicago schools, which included averaging 17.5 points per game.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
Since the 1988-89 season, Detroit owns a 19-18 overall mark in conference championship games, including a 65-54 setback as the #10 seed at #7 Youngstown State on March 10, 2008. Prior to Detroit's 72-67 win over #9 Loyola on March 9, 2009, the last time UDM won a game in the Horizon League Championship was a 59-49 victory as a #7 seed at #2 Milwaukee on March 3, 2005. Three days later, the Titans fell by a score of 76-66 to #3 Wright State.

Detroit has claimed one conference championship title in school history, which occurred during the 1996-97 campaign. The Titans were a #1 seed and defeated #8 Wright State (86-47), #4 Milwaukee (98-63) and clinched the title with a 63-55 win over #3 Green Bay at the Phoenix Sports Center in Green Bay, WI, on March 9. Head coach Autumn Rademacher was a senior on this squad and was named to the All-MCC First Team and, as well as earning all-tournament honors.

THIRD TIME'S A CHARM

With 2:32 on the clock, Loyola junior Keisha Collins drained one from long range to tie the game at 67, which was the first tie since the 15:26 mark of the first half, and the closest the Ramblers got to Detroit since Loyola led 13-12, six minutes into the contest.
