Mayhew Nets Six Points In Day One Of HL Championships

The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team opened the Horizon League Championships on Friday night at the Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, IL. The men totaled six points through two completed events.

Senior Adam Mayhew (Richland, MI/Gull Lake) got Detroit on the board by taking third in the hammer with a heave of 49.05m/160'11.75".

The 10000m saw two career marks set as sophomore Ryan Ayala (Coopersville, MI/Coopersville) ran a 32:48.56 for 16th place, a new personal record by 1:19 as well as moving to No. 5 on the all-time school list. Sophomore Marcus Acuna (Indianapolis,IN/Perry Meridian) also turned in a career best in his first-ever run in the event taking 18th in 33:08.88, a time that now stands No. 10 in school history.
