Titans Team Shootout A Slam Dunk
A-MBB Team Shootout
The Ray McCallum Team Shootout concluded on Sunday afternoon and it was another huge event as close to 50 junior varsity and varsity high school teams, stretching all across the state of Michigan, as well into Chicago and Windsor, came to play at the University of Detroit Mercy.

The event started at noon on Friday with four games starting every hour. Three of the games were played inside Calihan Hall, while a fourth was contested at Gesu Catholic Elementary School, located across the street from UDM’s campus. Each game featured two 20-minute halves, with a running clock, dead ball substitutions and pressing defenses allowed.

Live referees were also part of the shootout as in conjunction with the team camp, the Next Level Referee Development (NLRD), an organization that was designed to prepare and develop basketball referees, was on hand all weekend to help train current and future adults for a career in basketball officiating.

For the entire weekend, nearly 1,000 high school students, parents, friends and coaches were on campus for both the Titan men’s lacrosse and basketball camps, taking in some of what the University of Detroit Mercy has to offer.

The summer instructional season continues for Detroit as the Titans host two more camps this week, Monday-Thursday June 22-25. It all starts with the Post Play Instructional School set to go from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. That will be followed by the Shooting & Offensive Moves Instructional School from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

More information on those camps, as well as all the entire camp season at the University, can be found by clicking here.
