2009 HL Spring Academic Honor Roll in pdf.
The Horizon League released its 2009 Spring Academic Honor Roll on Monday and the Titans were well represented as 57 student-athletes from the University of Detroit Mercy were honored for their hard work and dedication in the classroom. In all, 681 student-athletes from the 10-team league were honored.
Leading the way for the Titans was the men's track and field/cross country team with 10 members posting the necessary grades, followed by the softball, women's track and field/cross country and men's soccer with eight. Women's soccer had seven students honored, while men's golf was next with five making the grade. Women's basketball and golf had four each, while women's tennis rounds out the list with three honorees.
A sport-by-sport breakdown features 96 student-athletes competing in women's track and field/cross country along with 76 in women's soccer and 75 from men's track and field/cross country. Other top sports include men's soccer with 67, women's swimming and diving with 55, baseball with 47 and softball with 46.
Candidates for the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify: 1) participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season; 2) completion of three semesters (or four quarters, where applicable) as a full-time student at the same member institution; and 3) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) as of June 20, 2009.
