The UDM Athletic Department announced today that the head men's basketball coach's office will be officially renamed The Doris & Donald Duchene, Sr. Head Men's Basketball Coach's Office at the completion of Phase I renovations of the men's basketball offices, set to begin in August.

Don Duchene was notified of the news yesterday at a small presentation that took place at the Detroit Tigers home game at Comerica Park. Director of Athletics Keri Gaither presented Duchene with a certificate of recognition and praised the Duchene family for their generosity during the past decade. 

"The Duchene family's generosity to both Titan Athletics and the University of Detroit Mercy is nothing short of exemplary," said Gaither. "It only seems right that we acknowledge such outstanding support by naming Coach McCallum's new office after Don and his family." 

Joining Gaither at the presentation were Daron Montgomery, Senior Associate Athletic Director, and Gary Spicer, a longtime friend of the Titan program, who is a trustee for the Doris & Donald Duchene, Sr. Foundation. Several Duchene family members and friends attended, as Duchene also celebrated his birthday in conjunction with the event.
