Day 7: Titans Go 3-For-3 In Spain, Winning 117-70

The Titans cruised to a 117-70 victory over C.B. Calpe on Tuesday behind the hot perimeter shooting of Eulis Stephens, who led five Titans in double figures with 24 points.

Stephens was 6-for-7 from behind the arc on the night as the Titans won their third straight game during an exhibition tour in Spain. Eli Holman was dominant in controlling every aspect of play in the paint. Chipping in 20 points, the Titans' big man made his presence known on the defensive end by controlling the glass, blocking shots and deflecting many of the host team's interior passing attempts.

Other Titans in double figures were Chase Simon, who scored 17, Thomas Kennedy with 15 and Xavier Keeling, who added 14.

“After two days off, I thought we came back and played with great energy and I think every game we've had a different starting lineup and every guy has responded,” Titans coach Ray McCallum noted. “Chase and Woody (Payne) both played nice ball games and this victory is chalked up to a combination of our defense and a night of quality shooting. This was our best shooting night. Our ball movement was the best it's been. We passed the ball really well. The unselfish team play has been really positive for us."

Other notable statistics came from Eugene Blue, who went 4-for-4 from the field, scoring eight points, while pulling down seven boards. The Titans' floor generals, Woody Payne and Donavan Foster, had steady hands at both ends of the floor as Foster led the team with five assists, while Payne had a team-high six steals.

"Our defensive intensity was great,” Payne enthused. “We only had six turnovers in the first half and we really attacked the glass hard. We were able to start our transition fast breaks and on the offensive end grab a lot of rebounds which resulted in putbacks."

"I thought we got out in transition and our defense created opportunities for our offense to score,” assistant coach Carlos Briggs added. “Eli's dominance down low created scoring opportunities for Eulis, Chase, Thomas and every one else. Coach McCallum did an excellent job of substituting and getting guys in and out of the game. In the second half, I want to say we went on a 10-2 run and it seemed like we were really clicking. This is going to be an exciting year for Titans Basketball."

The Titans have been dominant overseas in running a quick transition break which is a testament to their hard work in summer conditioning under the watchful eye of strength and conditioning coach Joe Tofferi and his able staff.

The Titans are back in action tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. local time (2 p.m. back home) as they compete in the fourth of their five Spanish games against Lliria.
