Day 8: Simon Explodes For 30 As Titans Win Fourth In A Row

Chase Simon scored 30 points as the Titans won their fourth straight game in Spain, 106-52 over C.B. Lliria on Wednesday night.

Simon set the tone early in a very hot gym as he scored 17 points in the first quarter alone on 8-of-9 shooting, leading six Titans in double figures for the night.

"The game was about us. We wanted to work on our communication on the court and really execute effectively on both ends of the floor,” Simon noted. “We have come out to quick starts in each of our four games and this year is going to be very exciting. We hope that we keep our focus and concentration at a high level in order to be as successful as we want to be this season."

Simon was joined in twin digits by big man Eli Holman, who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds, plus Thomas Kennedy (19 points and eight boards), Xavier Keeling (13 points while going 3-for-4 from the three-point line), Eulis Stephens (11) and the floor general, Donovan Foster, (10 points and six assists.)

"We used another different lineup for tonight's game and the five tonight responded. I think every game, I can sense that we are feeling more and more comfortable with each other in regards to ball movement and the balanced scoring,” head coach Ray McCallum said.

“What we've said this entire trip, is that it's about us and our approach to the game, not the opponents. Every day, we've had a cultural experience and then gone and played basketball at night. It emphasizes that this is not only about basketball. Our guys are growing from an educational standpoint as well and this has been an amazing trip."

Added assistant coach Jay Smith, "Having been the fourth game in five days, I thought we came out and played with good energy. I thought Chase really came in and was a presence on both ends of the court. Eli's physical presence on the glass was a huge factor. Anybody that we have played off the bench has come in and really picked up the level of intensity and delivered that spark that all teams need coming from their bench."

The Titans have one more game scheduled on their exhibition tour in Spain, Friday in Madrid, and they are set to return home on Saturday.
