The UDM women’s golfers opened their fall season Monday and hold down third place after one round of Chicago State’s PTSIR Performance Classic.
The Titans shot a team score of 320 on Day One and find themselves close to two Horizon League rivals, Butler (313) and Loyola (317). Eastern Illinois (321) is nipping at the Titans’ heels in fourth place.
Detroit junior Alainna Stefan – the defending tournament champion – is tied for seventh place after posting a score of 78 for her first 18 holes. Classmate Marni Achterhoff is next in line for the Titans with a 79, while freshman Collette Hansen (80) and sophomore Jackie DeMarco (83) round out the UDM scorers.
“I’m happy with the way Alainna, Marni and Collette played,” coach Terri Anthony-Ryan said. “This was our first tournament of the year. We worked hard at it today, and we’ll get better.”
The tournament will resume at Lost Marsh Golf Club in Hammond, IN on Tuesday morning.
