Video Wrap-Up On UDM's Athletic YouTube Channel

Over 300 coaches from all backgrounds were at Calihan Hall on Saturday as the University hosted its Second Annual Detroit Titans Basketball Coaches Clinic.

The star-studded line-up that the attendees were treated to included four collegiate head coaches in UDM's Ray McCallum, Minnesota's Tubby Smith, Michigan's John Beilein and Ron Hunter from IUPUI. Also on hand for presentations were UCLA assistant coach Scott Duncan and Detroit Pistons assistant coach Pat Sullivan.

“This is always a great event for any coach to come to and learn,” said McCallum. “It's about the coaches. That is one of the things that gets me real excited about this community is that we have one of the largest high school associations in the country and we had a tremendous turnout today and had a lot of fun.”

All of the coaches focused on a certain aspect of the game and with the help of student-athletes from Detroit, Windsor and Wayne State, each coach was able to show their drills and techniques with live demonstrations. The crowd was able to get right in the middle of the action too with a question and answer segment for each coach.

“What coach McCallum did here in getting guys like Tubby Smith and John Beilein and all the other coaches here today sharing information is great,” said Sullivan.

Those wishing to obtain a DVD copy of the coaches' clinic ($20.00) should contact the UDM men's basketball office at 313-993-1731 or email stacey.barns@udmercy.edu for more information.
