Led by freshman
Alexandria Vintevoghel (Casco, MI/Marine City), the UDM women's cross country team had four runners place in the top 20 as Detroit opened the 2009 season with the 5k Golden Grizzly Open on Saturday. The non-team scoring event was held on the campus of Oakland University.

Stephanie Rossman (Caledonia, MI/Caledonia) was 17th in 20:14, nearly a minute better then her debut in 2008.
Freshman
Katrina Oberski (Clyde, MI/Port Huron) willed her way into the top 20 in her first collegiate race, taking the final spot in 20:24.
Sophomore
