Titans Hit The Road For Two League Games

The Detroit Titans men's basketball team will take its show on the road this week as UDM heads to the Badger State starting with a Thursday tilt with the Milwaukee Panthers. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. (EST) at U.S. Cellular Arena. 

Fans living in the Milwaukee area can catch the game on local Sports 32. The Horizon League Network will also carry the game online, while a live stats feed of the event is can be accessed through CSTV's gametracker. Both links are available on top of the page. 

Detroit (11-6, 4-2 HL) is currently in a three-way tie for second place in the Horizon League after a heartbreaking loss to No. 24 Butler, 64-62 in overtime on Sunday. The Titans have four players in double figures in scoring led by junior Xavier Keeling's 12.8 ppg. Defensively, UDM continues to do a great job and still lead the league in field-goal percentage defense (.406), 3-point field-goal percentage defense (.302) and blocked shots (4.1), while ranking second in steals (8.4) and fourth in scoring defense (65.1 ppg.) 

Milwaukee is in the middle of a three game home stand after defeating in-state rival Green Bay last Saturday, 71-51. The Panthers stand at 10-7 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Ricky Franklin tops the team in scoring at 13.7 ppg., while James Eayrs is averaging 12.4 ppg., and 6.2 rpg.

TITANS VS. MILWAUKEE
Detroit and Milwaukee have met 32 times with the Panthers leading the series, 17-15. UMW has also won 13 of the last 16 games. 

The Titans are 5-11 all-time at Milwaukee, with their last win coming on Jan. 3, 2005, 76-68.

A FAMILY AFFAIR
The game will also feature a bit of a family affair as Titan head coach Ray McCallum will see his nephew, Ja'Rob McCallum, suit up for Milwaukee. Ja'Rob is a freshman on the Panthers' squad and is third on the team in scoring at 8.1 ppg. 

SIMON'S ALL AROUND
Sophomore Chase Simon has showcased his versatility all season long as the guard has scored in double digits 12 times, posted five or more rebounds 11 times and has handed out four or more assists four times. 

He has two 20-point games on the season with his career high of 23 against Butler his last time out and 22 vs. WMU, a career-best 11 boards against Cleveland State and seven assists versus Alcorn State and Michigan. 

The Detroit native is currently second on the team in assists (2.6) and rebounding (5.2) and fourth in scoring (12.1).

IMPRESSIVE WINS
The Titans are not only winning more frequently, they are doing so in impressive style. Eight of Detroit's 11 wins have been by double digits, including three of its four victories in the Horizon League.

THE AGONY OF DEFEAT
Four of the Titans' six losses have been by a total of nine points, with Detroit getting off a potential game-winning or tying shot in all of the games. Detroit suffered a 68-66 overtime loss at DePaul, was edged by Tennessee State, 70-69, fell at UIC, 60-56, and most recently, a 64-62 overtime tilt against No. 24 Butler.
