SERIES RECORD
The Titans have a slight lead in the overall series with UIC, 19-16, which includes a 10-9 advantage when playing at Calihan Hall. Last season, Detroit split the series with the Flames as UIC edged the Titans, 69-66, in Chicago on Jan. 5 and UDM then captured a 63-55 victory at Calihan on March 5. Detroit has won the past two at home against the Flames as the Titans also defeated UIC on Feb. 28, 2008 by a score of 55-51.

SCOUTING THE FLAMES
UIC heads into Thursday's match-up with a 6-9 overall record and a 3-1 mark in Horizon League play. In the Flames' last outing, they dropped a 73-64 decision to Cleveland State at home, but defeated Youngstown State two days earlier by a score of 78-59. Jessie Miller is averaging a team-best 13.2 points per game, while Jasmine Bailey leads UIC with 7.5 rebounds per contest.

FOR CHARITY
Freshman Cherridy Thornton set new personal standards in made free throws (3) and rebounds (5), while tying her season-high of five points at Green Bay this past Saturday.

TWO FOR THE SHOW
For the second time this season, sophomore Lauren Allen led the Titans in scoring as she netted 11 points after having a 4-of-7 showing from the field at Green Bay on Jan. 9. Two of those field goals were 3-pointers, which ties Allen's season-high in that category.

I'LL TAKE THREE OF THOSE
Two points wasn't enough for sophomore Lauren Allen, so she sank one from long range with 30 seconds left in the game against Milwaukee (Jan. 7) to help lift the Titans to their third-straight win.

RUNNING FROM THE LAW
When we were young, we were taught that it's not okay to steal, but there's an exception and sophomore Yar Shayok proved that on Jan. 7 as she collected a career-high, game-best and a season-high single game showing for the Titans with six steals.

MAKING A 'BIG' IMPACT
Sophomore Jalesa Jones, also known as 'Lil' Bit', poured in a team-high 14 points after making a career-high six field goals and also added a team-best five assists against Milwaukee last Thursday.

ALL BOARDED UP
The Titans outrebounded the Panthers, 42-20, in Detroit's 59-57 victory on Jan. 7 and UDM also edged the Phoenix in caroms, 33-30, this past Saturday.

HAPPY DAYS, AGAIN
Richie Cunningham or Fonzie couldn't be found in the stands on Thursday, but it was a 'Happy Day' for the Titans as their win against Milwaukee was the first on the Panthers' home court since March 3, 2005 (59-49).

THAT'S MY BALL
Junior Tayler Langham collected double figure rebounds for the first time in a Titan uniform as she ended with a team-high 11 caroms against Milwaukee on Jan. 7.

NOT A STRANGER
The Titans are all too familiar with ranked opponents this year as they have faced three thus far this season in #10 Michigan State (Nov. 15), #9 Georgia (Dec. 22) and #18 Green Bay (Jan. 9).

CRACKIN' THE TOP-10
Senior Brigid Mulroy is currently in seventh place with 108 career 3-pointers. Mulroy just needs four more to tie Catie Goddard (2002-06) for seventh place.

BEST IN THE NATION
In the latest NCAA National Rankings (thru Jan. 10), senior Brigid Mulroy ranks eighth in 3-point field goal pct. (.482) and 21st in 3-point field goals made (2.9/gm). In addition, as a team, the Titans are 100th in the nation in 3-point field goal pct. (.335).

WHERE IN THE HORIZON LEAGUE?
As of Jan. 12, senior Brigid Mulroy is first among conference peers in 3-point field goal pct. (.482) and is second in 3-point field goals made (2.9/gm). She is also seventh among conference peers in scoring (13.8 ppg) and fifth in free throw percentage (.853). Sophomore Yar Shayok is currently third in the Horizon League in rebounds (8.6 rpg), is 15th in scoring (11.0 ppg), third in defensive rebounds (6.0/gm) and is seventh in offensive rebounds (2.6/gm). In addition, sophomore Jalesa Jones is third in assists (4.9 apg) and seventh in assist/turnover ratio (1.4).

NOT THE CITY IN CALIFORNIA
Sophomore Lauren Allen (L.A.) tied her career-high of eight assists for a game-best effort and also tied for a game-high nine rebounds for a new season-high in Detroit's 21-point victory over Wright State on Jan. 3.

“FOUR SCORE & SEVEN YEARS AGO...”(AGAIN)
For two games in a row, the Titans had four players score in double figures, most recently it was against visiting Wright State (Jan. 3). Senior Brigid Mulroy led the way with 21, while freshman Demeisha Fambro came off the bench to score 13 and sophomores Yar Shayok and Jalesa Jones each added 11 for Detroit in the 68-47 win. Against Colgate (Dec. 30), Jones led the way with 17, while Mulroy scored 15, junior Tayler Langham added 14 and Shayok netted 10 for UDM.

OPENING ON A WINNING NOTE
This marks the second straight season in which the Titans have won their Horizon League opener as Detroit defeated Wright State (Jan. 3) 68-47, and last year UDM captured a 71-64 victory over Loyola in Chicago on Jan. 3.

ASSISTING TOGETHER
The Titans dished out a season-best 17 assists against Wright State on Jan. 3.

STEALING AWAY
The Titans collected 12 steals against Colgate (Dec. 30) and Wright State (Jan. 3), which ties for a season-high in this category.

HALF AND HALF
Junior Tayler Langham shot 50 percent from the field (6-of-12) to end with a game third-best 14 points against Colgate on Dec. 30. In addition, Langham added five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 31 minutes of play.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
Sophomore Yar Shayok collected her fourth double-double of the season as she scored a game fourth-best 10 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds against visiting Colgate on Dec. 30.

THAT'S DY-NO-MITE!
Sophomore Jalesa Jones (JJ) led all scorers with a career-high 17 points after making a personal-best five field goals against Colgate on Dec. 30. Jones shot 70 percent from the line (7-of-10) and dished out a game second-best five assists versus the Raiders.

DOUBLIN' UP
Detroit had five players score in double figures at Morehead State on Dec. 13. Sophomore Jalesa Jones and freshman Demeisha Fambro tied for a team-high 15 points, while freshman Kassandra Hooten scored 14. Sophomore Yar Shayok and senior Brigid Mulroy added 12 and 10, respectively.

HORTEN CLEARLY HEARS A 'WHO'
Freshman Kassandra Hooten started ended with a team third-best and personal-high 14 points for her second consecutive game scoring in double figures on Dec. 13 at Morehead State. Against Bowling Green (Dec. 9), she came off the bench to score a team-high and then personal-best 12 points after shooting 4-of-11 from the field and making her lone attempt from long range.

FAMBRO LEADS THE WAY
Freshman Demeisha Fambro poured in a game-high 22 points, which included a perfect 5-of-5 showing at the line, against Eastern Michigan (Dec. 5). Fambro was one rebound shy of collecting a double-double as she grabbed a team third-best nine boards and she also tallied a game-high four steals against the Eagles.

BOARD WORK, NOT BRIDGE WORK
Senior Brigid Mulroy pulled down a career-high and game second-best 12 rebounds against Eastern Michigan on Dec. 5.

LONE SENIOR HONORED
Detroit's lone senior, Brigid Mulroy, came out of the gate raring to go in UDM's opening week as she averaged 20.5 points in the two games. For her efforts, Mulroy was named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Nov. 16 and also earned the Horizon League Network's “The People's Choice” honor (Nov. 19).

MORE MULROY
Mulroy opened the 2009-10 campaign with a team third-best 14-point effort in Detroit's 74-65 win at Oakland on Nov. 13 and, two days later, in UDM's home opener, she shot 8-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-5 from long range, and made all seven attempts at the line to end with a career-high and game-best 27 points versus #10 Michigan State. The eight made field goals matches her career-high and the seven free throws is a new personal best for Detroit's lone senior.

NOT TOO SHABBY
Detroit led by as much as nine against #10 Michigan State on Nov. 15 and the Titans had a one-point advantage at the break (37-36).

DOUBLE OR NOTHING
Sophomore Yar Shayok, whose 2008-09 season was cut short due to an injury, made a huge impact for the Titans against Oakland on Nov. 13 as she collected a double-double with game-highs in both points and rebounds with 26 and 14, respectively.

TALE OF TWO HALVES
The Titans shot 36 percent in the first half against Oakland (Nov. 13) and came back from the break to shoot 61 percent in the second stanza, compared to a 29 percent effort from the Golden Grizzlies.

BIG TEN TEAMS TO CALIHAN
Michigan was the second Big Ten team to visit Calihan Hall this year as Detroit opened up its home slate with a match-up against Michigan State on Nov. 15 and faced off with the Wolverines on Dec. 19. The last time UDM hosted both of these teams was during the 2001-02 season.

LAST TIME OUT
University of Detroit Mercy's women's basketball team dropped a 71-46 decision to #18 Green Bay in a Horizon League match-up at the Kress Center in Green Bay, WI, on Jan. 9.

The first 10 minutes of the game was kept close as the score was tied five times, with the last happening after Detroit sophomore Yar Shayok hit a lay-up off an assist from sophomore Lauren Allen to knot the score at 12. Green Bay responded with a 13-2 run, which was halted after freshman Kassandra Hooten made a lay-up with help from freshman Jalesa Jones to pull Detroit within nine, 25-16, at the 5:50 mark.

In the closing minutes of the first half, Allen, who ended with a team-high 11 points, made back-to-back treys with the second bringing Detroit within 11 of the Phoenix (33-22). Junior Tayler Langham was the last to score of the opening stanza with two made free throws, but the Phoenix went into the break with a 38-24 advantage.

Green Bay opened up the second half with eight unanswered points before Shayok, who tied with Allen for a team-best six rebounds, scored two from under the basket off an assist from Hooten. The Phoenix led by at least 20 points the rest of the game and had its largest lead of 30 twice, with the last with just under two minutes remaining after Breannah Ranger hit a midrange jumper.

Three Green Bay players scored in double figures with Kayla Tetschlag netting a game-high 19 points, along with a game-best eight rebounds. Hannah Quilling added 14 for Green Bay, while Lydia Bauer came off the bench to end with 11 points.

Detroit shot 44 percent (16-of-36), while Green Bay (15-0, 4-0 HL) had a 28-of-64 showing on the day and the Titans outrebounded the Phoenix, 33-30.

HORIZON LEAGUE NETWORK
All of Detroit's home games and every road conference contest for the Titans will be televised on the Horizon League Network this year.

DETROIT INKS TWO
University of Detroit Mercy head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher has announced that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Titan squad, beginning with the 2010-11 season. The signees are: Megan Hatter (F, 6-0, Howell, MI/Howell) and Senee Shearer (G, 5-7, Detroit, MI/Pershing). Hatter is the sister of current Titan, Heather Hatter.
