Brigid Mulroy (West Bloomfield, MI/Marian) has been named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts on the court this past week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. This marks the second time this season in which Mulroy has received this honor with the first coming on Nov. 16, 2009.
Mulroy hit the game-winning shot as time expired against visiting UIC on Jan. 14 to help propel Detroit to a 66-65 win and ended with a game second-best 17 points. She then poured in a game-high 19 points two days later to help UDM clinch a 53-50 victory over Loyola.
“It's an honor to be recognized by the Horizon League,” said Mulroy. “This is only a testament to what our team is doing in conference play thus far with our 4-1 start.”
Mulroy averaged a team-best 18.0 points per game on the week and shot 10-of-14 from 3-point range, which included a flawless 5-for-5 showing against the Flames on Thursday and she now stands seventh all-time in Detroit's record books with 118 treys. Mulroy only missed one field goal in the two contests (10-of-15) and made all six free throws on the week, including four crucial attempts late in the game against the Ramblers.
UDM (6-10) is currently 4-1 in the conference, which is the first time since the 1999-2000 season that Detroit has accomplished this feat in league play.
By virtue of Mulroy's POW selection, she is eligible for the Horizon League Network's “People's Choice” Award, which is announced every Thursday afternoon. Fans can vote at

The Titans will return to the road on Thursday when they face Valparaiso at the Athletics-Recreation Center at 8:05 p.m.
