2010 Detroit Women's Lacrosse Schedule (in pdf)
University of Detroit Mercy’s women’s lacrosse second-year head coach
Mary Ann Meltzer has announced its 2010 schedule, which includes six games to be played at Titan Field, with the first against Cincinnati on March 5.
Detroit will open up its 2010 campaign against St. Francis (PA) on Feb. 21 in Michigan at a site yet to be determined, and will follow with three consecutive road games, all of which are against members of the National Lacrosse Conference. The Titans will first face Davidson on Feb. 24, and will then travel to Clinton, SC, where UDM will match-up against Presbyterian (Feb. 26) and Jacksonville the following day.
“I’m thrilled about our schedule this year, not only because of the six games that will be played on our own field, but because of the level of competition that we will face in 2010,” said Meltzer. “We are looking to improve upon what we accomplished last year and I am excited about competing in the newly formed NLC.”
UDM will play in its first game of the 2010 season at Titan Field on March 5 against Cincinnati and will not return home again until March 17 when the Titans host Notre Dame College. The rest of March will be road games for Detroit, which includes a Spring Break trip to Northern California (St. Mary’s, Fresno State and UC Davis).
The Titans will play four of its five regular season games in the month of April at Titan Field, beginning with an NLC match-up against Howard on April 3. Liberty, another NLC member school, makes a visit to Detroit on April 10 and, six days later, Detroit will host LeMoyne. The final home game for Detroit will be against defending NLC Champion, Longwood, on April 18, and the Titans will wrap-up their regular season at Ohio State (April 25).
Detroit closed out its inaugural season with a 5-9 overall record and a 2-3 mark when playing on its home field. One of the highlights for the Titans in 2009 came when it defeated Presbyterian in the semifinals of the NLC Tournament to advance to the championship game. Sophomore
Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson Secondary) finished the year with a team-high 57 goals, while sophomore
Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace) ended with a team second-best 44 points.
