Women's Performance At The Titan Tip-Off
Detroit Titans Ticket Information
Another week of practice is now over for the Detroit women's basketball team and the Titans are picking up right where they left off last year – determined and focused.
So far, the team has handled all the preseason expectations by just going out and working hard to get ready for the upcoming season.
When the team is fully healthy, the Titans will be 15 deep in practice and 13 deep during the season as two players sit out due to NCAA transfer rules. With that kind of depth and the departure of All-League performer and outside sharp shooter
Brigid Mulroy, Detroit will transition to more of a running style of play.
Coach
Autumn Rademacher, now in her third year on the sidelines for her alma mater, is excited about what her and her staff have seen in practice.
“So far, we have seen a great effort from the team,” said the reigning HL Coach of the Year. “It's nice to be able to have everyone out on the court together. We have been consistent at times and other times we have not so we are just trying to get out all the kinks and become as efficient as possible in the next few weeks, and get ready for the exhibition against Saginaw Valley.”
A Few Observations From Women's Practice:
1 – The Titans will run this year. Watching practice is like a track meet at times with the team really hustling up and down the court.
2 – The up and down system looks to really suit Detroit as the Titans could essentially put four good ball handlers on the court at any time surrounding rebounding machine
Yar Shayok, the second leading rebounder in the league last year at 9.7 per game. Once she grabs the rebound, the outlet pass should jump start a lot of transition opportunities.
3 – Any sign that the team is going to relax after last year's second-half run to get to 14-4 in the conference can easily be removed. Detroit has looked focused on the court, in large part due to the veteran leadership of its three captains in juniors
Lauren Allen and
Jalesa Jones and the sophomore post player Shayok.
4 – With nine letterwinners returning as well as an experienced player in
Dominique Dixon, who transferred from West Virginia and sat out last season, the Titans should be able to ease in the freshmen class.
