Complete 2010-11 Men's Basketball Schedule
DETROIT – FOX Sports Detroit will carry four University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball games this season bringing the number of televised games to at least 11 this season by a host of different outlets, announced Tuesday by school officials. The deal also includes a monthly "Titan Basketball Report" show, a 30-minute program that will air prior to the Titan games and select Detroit Pistons broadcasts on FSD.
"We are so pleased with the 2010-11 television package," said
Keri Gaither, UDM's Director of Athletics. "I think the national and regional exposure our men's basketball team will receive this season is invaluable – it helps on so many levels. I know Coach
Ray McCallum talks about TV with his current team members, recruits and their families, and we feel like the record number of ESPN and FOX Sport Detroit broadcasts is an indication of the direction the program is headed."
The four games carried by FOX Sports Detroit include three home contests and a road tilt all in the Horizon League schedule. The FSD slate tips-off on Dec. 4 at Calihan Hall in the Titans' league opener against Wright State at noon. FSD will also carry both meeting with Valparaiso (Jan. 16 and Feb. 10), a team picked to finish fourth in the recently released HL Preseason Poll. UIC is the third home contest on FSD with a 7:00 p.m. tip on Feb. 3.
The four-game package supplements an already impressive list of televised games for Detroit. ESPN will cover the Titans at least six times over their family of networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN3.com). The Horizon League Championship will also be televised by ESPN with another wild card game and the BracketBuster matchup (Feb. 19) as possible add-ons as the season progresses.
WADL, channel 38 in Detroit, has also partnered with the Horizon League, airing the league's "Game of the Week" each Saturday over eight weeks. The Game of the Week starts with Detroit's trip to UIC on Jan. 8 and could include a Feb. 5 game with Loyola as well.
In addition to the televised games, all UDM home games (and HL road games) will be webcast via the Horizon League Network. Launched in 2006, the HLN produces all home games at Calihan Hall (men's and women's) and road league games. A total of 23 games will be streamed live in this format this season.
FSD will produce and air a new 30-minute segment called "Titan Basketball Report", a show that will offer features, interviews, highlights and much more from around Titan basketball. The segment will air prior to all four FSD broadcasts and will re-air at varying times on the regional outlet.
UDM's television package gets underway in the second game of the season, an ESPN3.com tilt at national-powerhouse Syracuse.
