ON TAP
Detroit will host Akron Wednesday in the fourth of five straight home games.  The Zips are the second Mid American Conference team on the Titans schedule and is one of five MAC schools that UDM will face this season.  Saturday marks the end of the homestand and the start to the Horizon League conference slate with Wright State paying a visit to Calihan.  The balance of the HL schedule begins in earnest Dec. 30 with a home tilt against Green Bay.

ABOUT THE AKRON ZIPS
Akron is 2-2 on the young campaign with a 0-1 record on the road thus far.   The Zips have already played a pair of Horizon League schools, beating Youngstown State (91-84) in overtime on Nov. 20 before falling to undefeated Cleveland State(64-51) on Nov. 24.  Brett McClanahan leads the Zips in scoring with 15.3 per contest while 7-footer Zeke Marshall averages 14.8 points and 3.3 blocks per game.  AU was 24-11 last season and hosted an opening round game in the CBI post-season tournament, falling to Horizon League's Green Bay, 70-66.

HOLMAN: PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Eli Holman picked-up the first Detroit Horizone League Player of the Week honor Monday for his performance during the Legends Classic.  The junior center averaged 14 points and 12.3 rebounds to help the Titans to a 3-1 week, including three straight wins in as many days at the Legends Classic at Calihan Hall Firday through Sunday.  Holman etched a new career high with 27 points in the Titans' 84-82 double-overtime win over Albany Friday.  He also posted three straight double-doubles during the Classic en route to Most Valuable Player accolades.  His five double-double games this season is tied for the most in the country.

MVP DEJA VU
This whole MVP award is nothing new to Eli Holman.  The junior was also named the MVP of the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament last season.  He averaged 16.3 points and 12.3 rebounds in wins over host Albany, Robert Morris and Alcorn State.

MINNERATH, HOLMAN NAMED TO ALL-TOURNEY TEAM
While Holman was named the MVP of the Legends Classic, fellow frontcourt-mate Nick Minnerath was also named to the All-Tournament Team.  The pair made Detroit the only team with more than one representative named all-tourney.  Minnerath tallied point totals of 13, 14 and 10 at the tournament.

NO TURNS
After struggling with the turnover bug a bit in the early season, Detroit took care of the basketball in record form on Friday.  Even though the game was extended 10 minutes with the two overtime periods, the Titans posted a new season low with only seven miscues.  The eye-popping stat was that UDM did not turn the ball over once in the first half.

200
Saturday's 71-62 win over Bowling Green gave UDM Head Coach Ray McCallum his 200th of his collegiate coaching career.  The Titans' head man is in his 14th season at the helm of a college program, including his third here in Detroit.  It also marked his 10th win over BGSU all-time, tied for third-most against any school (Central Michigan- 13, Western Michigan- 12, Toledo- 10).

GET THAT OUTTA HERE
The Titans registered a season-high 13 blocks in the win over Niagara on Sunday.  It was the most blocked shots since last year's team swatted away 17 shots against Shawnee State exactly 11 months earlier (12/28/09).  LaMarcus Lowe had six blocks to lead the way, one shy of his personal best.  Five different Titans tallied at least one block in the win.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE PLAYER-PLAYER
Sunday's win featured another statistical oddity with two Titans each recording double-doubles.  Eli Holman scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds before sitting most of the second half and allowing LaMarcus Lowe to gather 12 points and 10 rebounds in the second half alone.

LOWE DOWN
LaMarcus Lowe moved his season block total to 14 through 7 games with his half-dozen total on Sunday.  He leads the team with his 2.0 average and is 66th in all of Division I with that clip.  He has registered a block in all but one game this season (at Mississippi State- 11/22).

HIGH FIVE
All five Detroit starters are averaging double digits in points this season.  The balanced attack has seen four different players as the top scorer during the last four games (Calliste, Holman, Minnerath, McCallum). Detroit has used the same starting lineup for all seven games so far this season.

LEADING THE LEAGUE
Eli Holman leads the Horizon League in both offensive (4.1rpg) and defensive (7.1rpg) rebounds per game in the early going.  He also tops the HL in field goal percentage, connecting on 67.7 percent of his shots (42-of-62).

AMONG THE NATION'S BEST, TOO...
The first NCAA Division I national rankings were released Monday and Eli Holman's name appears in three different categories.  His five double-doubles are tied for the most in the country and he is 10th in rebounds per game (11.3) and 11th in field goal percentage (.677).

GIMME FIVE
Detroit is in the midst of a season-long five-game homestand, culminating Saturday with the conference opener against Wright State. The Titans hosted three games in the Legends Classic over the Thanksgiving weekend, welcoming in Albany, Bowling Green and Niagara on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.  The home cooking continues Dec. 1 with a non-conference tilt against Akron then concludes with the Horizon League-opener against Wright State on Dec. 4.
