Horizon League Release
INDIANAPOLIS -- After lighting up Michigan for a career-high 20 points on Saturday, Titan sophomore
Dominique Dixon (Detroit, MI/Renaissance) was named the Horizon League Player of the Week, announced the conference office on Monday.
Dixon helped lead Detroit to a 67-48 victory over Michigan, its first win against its in-state rivals from the Big Ten since 1994 as well as the first win for the Titans in Ann Arbor since 1983.
The Titan starting guard, who is in her first year with the program after sitting out last season following her transfer from West Virginia, was 7-of-14 from the field and 4-of-6 from behind the arc, both career highs. She also matched her career best with five rebounds, while coming away with a block and a steal.
After starting the game 2-of-7 in the first half, Dixon caught fire in the second period going 5-of-7 from the field with three 3-pointers for 14 points as the Titans increased their advantage to as many as 21 before taking the contest by 19 points.
It is the first HL Player of the Week honor in Dixon's career and the first on the season for Detroit.
With the weekly conference honor, Dixon is now up for the Horizon League Network's “People's Choice Award” as fans can visit the Horizon League website (
www.horizonleague.org) tonight to vote for their favorite HL Athlete of the Week.
UDM will be back in action next Monday, Dec. 27, as the Titans return home to face Marygrove with tip-off slated for 5 p.m.
