ONE IS NOT SUCH A LONELY NUMBER
After cruising to a 16-point victory over visiting #23/22 Green Bay on Feb. 4, Detroit took over the number one spot in the Horizon League standings. Despite the loss to Butler on Thursday, UDM still maintains a half game lead over the Bulldogs and the Phoenix as the Titans own an 11-3 Horizon League record, while BU and GB are both 10-3 in conference contests. Prior to the start of the 2009-10 campaign, UDM was chosen eighth in the Horizon League Preseason Poll.

SERIES RECORD
Detroit has a slight 5-4 advantage in the overall series with Valpo, which includes a 1-3 mark when playing at Calihan. The lone win for the Titans at home against the Crusaders came on Nov. 28, 2000 by a score of 76-70. Earlier this year, UDM came back from a six-point deficit with 38 seconds left to send the game into overtime and the Titans ended up clinching a 72-70 win on Jan. 21 in Indiana.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Valpo heads into Saturday's contest with a 7-17 overall record and a 4-9 mark in conference play. The Crusaders have lost five of their past six outings, including a 54-51 setback at Wright State on Thursday. Betsy Adams leads Valpo with 12.6 points per game, while Lauren Kenney is averaging a team-best 6.5 rebounds per contest.

MAKING IT COUNT
Sophomore Sierra Spaude was subbed back into the game with 28 seconds left in regulation against Valpo on Jan. 21 and, five seconds later, she made a crucial basket from beyond the arc to pull Detroit within two, which eventually helped force overtime with the Crusaders.

STEALING FOR THE BETTER
Sophomore Jalesa Jones has a good heart, but when it comes to stealing on the court, no one could hold her back against Valpo on Jan. 21 as she collected a career-high and game-best six steals. One of them was critical in setting up the game-tying basket by sophomore Yar Shayok in the closing seconds of regulation.

EXTRA SESSION
The Titans have played in three overtime games in head coach Autumn Rademacher's tenure and Detroit owns a 2-1 mark in these games, including a 72-70 victory over the Crusaders on Jan. 21. The other victory came in double overtime at Eastern Michigan on Dec. 20 (76-75).

DOUBLE TROUBLE
Sophomore Yar Shayok collected her ninth double-double of the season as she grabbed 13 rebounds and scored 11 points against Butler this past Thursday. Shayok is the only Titan thus far this season to have registered a double-double. This marks the 14th time this season that Shayok has collected double figure rebounds, including six of the past seven contests.

SEVEN'S ALL AROUND
Sophomore Jalesa Jones netted a career-high seven field goals on Thursday and also tied her season-best of seven assists. Jones totaled a team second-best 17 points versus Butler, which ties her career-high.

MORE THAN TWO DECADES WORTH
Senior Brigid Mulroy led all scorers with 22 points against Butler on Thursday, which marks the sixth time this season that Mulroy has scored 20 or more points. It's also the 11th time this year that Mulroy has led or tied for the lead among her teammates in scoring.

FROM LONG RANGE
Eighteen of Mulroy's 22 points on Thursday came from beyond the arc as she matched her career-high of six 3-pointers and also tied her personal-best of eight made field goals.

BEST IN THE NATION
In the latest NCAA National Rankings (thru Feb. 18), senior Brigid Mulroy ranks second in 3-point field goal pct. (.521) and 13th in 3-point field goals made (3.0/gm). In addition, as a team, the Titans are 47th in the nation in 3-point field goal pct. (.356).

WHERE IN THE HORIZON LEAGUE?
As of Feb. 19, senior Brigid Mulroy is first among conference peers in 3-point field goal pct. (.521) and in 3-point field goals made (3.0/gm). She is also sixth among conference peers in scoring (14.3 ppg) and first in free throw percentage (.910). Sophomore Yar Shayok is currently second in the Horizon League in rebounds (9.9 rpg), is tied for 13th in scoring (11.7 ppg), first in defensive rebounds (7.0/gm) and is second in offensive rebounds (2.8/gm). In addition, sophomore Jalesa Jones is seventh in assist/turnover ratio (1.4), as well as steals (1.8 spg) and is second in assists (4.8 apg), while Lauren Allen is eighth (3.9 apg).

RPI
As of Feb. 15, Detroit is ranked 125th in the 2010 NCAA Women's Basketball RPI. The Titans ended last season at the 220th spot and, in the year before Autumn Rademacher was the head coach, UDM finished at the 291st slot.

ALMOST PERFECT
Senior Brigid Mulroy is shooting an impressive 95 percent from the charity stripe (40-of-42) in Horizon League games and, prior to Feb. 13, Mulroy had made 30-straight free throws. Overall, she is shooting 91 percent from the line and sits first among conference peers with this number.

'FOUR'TUNE TELLER
For the fourth time this season, sophomore Lauren Allen led the Titans in scoring as she netted 17 points after shooting 7-of-15 from the field, including a 3-of-7 showing from beyond the arc, at UIC on Feb. 13. This marks the eighth time this season that Allen has scored in double figures.

FEARLESS FRESHMAN
Freshman Demeisha Fambro came off the bench at UIC on Feb. 13 to add a team second-best 16 points, which included five made field goals, two of which were treys, and a 4-of-6 showing at the charity stripe. Fambro also pulled down six rebounds in those 25 minutes of play.

SIXTH SENSE
Detroit had won six-straight games heading into Thursday's match-up with Butler, which was the first time since the 2003-04 campaign that the Titans have accomplished this feat. Detroit defeated Loyola in Chicago on Feb. 14 that year (70-62) and went on to win five more in a row, ending with a 64-58 victory at Milwaukee (Mar. 7).

HOME SWEET HOME
Prior to Feb. 18, Detroit had won eight-straight games at Calihan Hall, which began against Colgate on Dec. 30 (67-44) and ended with a 72-65 victory over Milwaukee (Feb. 6). The last time the Titans won eight consecutive contests at Calihan Hall was during the 1996-97 campaign as Detroit won 10-straight contests at home, beginning with an 85-46 win over Tennessee State (Dec. 22) and ending with a 99-60 victory over Wright State (Mar. 1).

THREE'S COMPANY
Three Titans have started every game for Detroit thus far this season in senior Brigid Mulroy, along with sophomores Jalesa Jones and Yar Shayok.

MOVIN' ON UP
Senior Brigid Mulroy recently moved up to the sixth all-time in Detroit's record books in 3-point field goals made as she now owns 142.

IS THERE ANY WINDEX HANDY?
The 17 rebounds Shayok collected against the Ramblers on Feb. 11 is the third highest single game showing for a Horizon League player thus far this year. Youngstown State freshman Brandi Brown set the standard on Jan. 9 with 19 and she also had an 18 rebound showing on Dec. 21.

UNO!
Detroit held Loyola to just one field goal in the first 10:06 of the game on Feb. 11.

CRASHING THE BOARDS
At Loyola on Feb. 11, sophomore Jalesa Jones set a new season-high and was one shy of tying her personal-best in rebounds with seven, five of which came on the defensive end.

MAKING AN IMPACT
Sophomore Lauren Allen led all Titans in scoring with 19 points against Milwaukee on Feb. 6, for a new career-high and also set a new personal-best in field goals made with nine. Allen also kept on helping out her teammates so she collected a game-high eight assists, which matches her personal-best.

ALL OVER THE GLASS
For the eighth time this season, Detroit outrebounded its opponent as the Titans had a 41-34 advantage over the Ramblers on Feb. 11. In those contests, UDM owns a 7-1 record.

COULD HARDLY MISS
Sophomore Yar Shayok only missed one attempt from the field (5-of-6) against Milwaukee on Feb. 6 and ended with a team third-best 13 points.

“FIVE...FIVE DOLLAR...”
Five Titans, all the starters, scored in double figures against Milwaukee on Feb. 6. This marks the second time this season that five Detroit players have netted double digits in a single game with the first at Morehead State on Dec. 13.

SWEET SIXTEEN
Detroit's impressive 71-55 handling of the nationally-ranked Green Bay Phoenix on Feb. 4 matched the largest scoring margin ever for the Titans against the Phoenix as UDM captured a 75-59 win on Jan. 27, 1996 at Calihan Hall. This was also the most lopsided loss for Green Bay since an 81-58 setback at Wisconsin on Dec. 11, 2007.

RANKED OPPONENTS
After three previous meetings with nationally-ranked opponents this season, Feb. 4 marked the first time this year that Detroit walked away as the winner, but it is the second time during Rademacher's tenure as the Titans captured a 70-66 win over #23 Georgia on Nov. 22, 2008.

LEAST AMOUNT SCORED
Detroit held Green Bay to just 17 points in the second half after the Phoenix was leading at the break, 38-33, on Feb. 4. The 17 points ties the least amount of points the Titans have allowed their opponent to score in a single half this season as Youngstown State only netted 17 in the opening stanza on Jan. 28 in Detroit.

STARTING OFF STRONG
The Titans are off to their best start in conference play since the 1996-97 season when Detroit began 7-2 and finished out the year 14-2 in MCC play. UDM split with Green Bay during the regular season that year, but the Titans captured a 63-55 victory against the Phoenix in the conference championship game (March 9) to send Detroit to the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history.

ADD FOUR
Detroit heads into Saturday's match-up with 11 conference wins, which is four more victories than the Titans' total amount of Horizon League wins from the 2008-09 campaign.

POURING IN THE POINTS
Sophomore Jalesa Jones led all scorers with 17 points against Cleveland State on Jan. 30, which matches her career-high. Jones also dished out a game-high six assists against the Vikings.

MIDWAY THROUGH HL SLATE

At the midpoint of the conference season (games prior to Feb. 4), Detroit owned a 7-2 HL record, which betters its conference record from just a year ago by five games (2-7). When looking at all the teams in the league, Detroit had the largest turnaround at the midpoint of the conference slate compared to last season; Loyola was second (+3).

80 OR MORE
Detroit's 80-point effort on Jan. 28 marks its largest scoring output in a single game thus far this season and is the largest amount of points the Titans have scored during head coach Autumn Rademacher's tenure. The last time UDM scored 80 or more points was on Jan. 5, 2005 when the Titans defeated Loyola at Calihan (88-73).

IT'S RAINING THREES
As a team, the Titans drained 11 total 3-pointers against the Penguins on Jan. 28, which marks a season-high for Detroit in this category.

“CRASH...INTO ME”
The Titans were relentless on the boards on Jan. 28 as they grabbed a season-high 53 rebounds against Youngstown State.

OVER 10 YEARS AGO
The Titans defeated Youngstown State by 36 points on Jan. 28 (80-44), which is the largest margin of victory for UDM since Jan. 29, 1998 when Detroit defeated Wright State at home by 37 points (93-56).

TWO DECADES WORTH
Sophomore Sierra Spaude not only started her first collegiate game on Jan. 28, but she netted a game-high and personal-best 20 points after shooting 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-8 from long range. She also added a team second-best eight rebounds against the Penguins.

HELP IS ON THE WAY
Sophomore Jalesa Jones has collected at least one assist in every game except one and is averaging a team-high 4.7 assists per game. Jones has led or tied for the lead among her teammates in assists 16 times this year.

BATTER-UP!
Senior Brigid Mulroy will don another Titan uniform after basketball season is over as the West Bloomfield native is going to play infield for Detroit's softball squad.

DID YOU KNOW?
Senior Brigid Mulroy has been ranked in the top-5 in the nation for 3-point field goal percentage every week thus far this season, except for one and she has been ranked first in the Horizon League in the same category since Nov. 24.

OUT OF BREATH?
Forget the 40-minute club, two Titans are now part of the 45-minute club for the season as sophomores Jalesa Jones and Lauren Allen played every minute against the Crusaders on Jan. 21. This ties a personal-best for Allen and sets a career-high for Jones in this category.

TEN PLUS FIVE
Freshman Demeisha Fambro came off the bench to score a team second-best 15 points against Valpo on Jan. 21, 10 of which were scored in regulation.

TWICE AS NICE
Senior Brigid Mulroy was named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Jan. 18, to mark the second time this season in which Mulroy has received this honor (Nov. 16). She averaged a team-best 18.0 points per game on the week and shot 10-of-14 from 3-point range, which included a flawless 5-for-5 showing against the Flames on Thursday. Mulroy shot a combined 10-of-15 from the field and made all six free throws on the week. In addition, Mulroy was voted as the Horizon League Network's “The People's Choice” winner (Jan. 21) for the second time this year.

I'LL TAKE THREE OF THOSE
Two points wasn't enough for sophomore Lauren Allen, so she sank one from long range with 30 seconds left in the game against Milwaukee (Jan. 7) to help lift the Titans to their third-straight win.

RUNNING FROM THE LAW
When we were young, we were taught that it's not okay to steal, but there's an exception and sophomore Yar Shayok proved that on Jan. 7 as she collected a career-high and game-best six steals.

ASSISTING TOGETHER
The Titans dished out a season-best 17 assists against Wright State on Jan. 3.

STEALING AWAY
The Titans collected 12 steals against Colgate (Dec. 30) and Wright State (Jan. 3), which ties for a season-high in this category.

BOARD WORK, NOT BRIDGE WORK
Senior Brigid Mulroy pulled down a career-high and game second-best 12 rebounds against Eastern Michigan on Dec. 5.

LONE SENIOR HONORED
Detroit's lone senior, Brigid Mulroy, came out of the gate raring to go in UDM's opening week as she averaged 20.5 points in the two games. For her efforts, Mulroy was named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Nov. 16 and also earned the Horizon League Network's “The People's Choice” honor (Nov. 19).

MORE MULROY
Mulroy opened the 2009-10 campaign with a team third-best 14-point effort in Detroit's 74-65 win at Oakland on Nov. 13 and, two days later, in UDM's home opener, she shot 8-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-5 from long range, and made all seven attempts at the line to end with a career-high and game-best 27 points versus #10 Michigan State. The eight made field goals matches her career-high and the seven free throws is a personal best for Detroit's lone senior.

DOUBLE OR NOTHING
Sophomore Yar Shayok made a huge impact for the Titans against Oakland on Nov. 13 as she collected a double-double with game-highs in both points and rebounds with 26 and 14, respectively.

LAST TIME OUT
Despite senior Brigid Mulroy netting six 3-pointers and leading all scorers with 22 points, Detroit dropped a 72-62 decision to Butler in a Horizon League match-up on Feb. 18 at Calihan Hall.

In the middle of the second half, Mulroy nailed three straight baskets from long range to give Detroit a 54-50 advantage and freshman Jalesa Jones, who tied her season-high of seven helpers, earned an assist on each of those baskets. Butler pulled ahead again, 55-54, but the Titans responded with six unanswered points to take their largest lead of the contest. Shortly after, sophomore Lauren Allen hit the front end of a one-and-one situation to give UDM a 61-59 advantage, but the Bulldogs ended the contest on a 13-1 run to clinch the win.

The Titans scored seven unanswered points in the closing minutes of the first half, but BU junior Alyssa Pittman drained a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Bulldogs a 33-31 advantage at the break.

Mulroy tied her career-high of made treys with six, while Jones matched her personal-best of 17 points. In addition, sophomore Yar Shayok tallied her ninth double-double of the season as she tied a team-high 13 rebounds and added 11 points for the Titans.

Butler senior Melanie Thornton also collected a double-double with team-highs in points and rebounds with 17 and 14, respectively.

Detroit shot 40 percent on the night (23-of-58), while Butler had a 25-of-57 showing (44 percent).

DETROIT INKS TWO
University of Detroit Mercy head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher has announced that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Titan squad, beginning with the 2010-11 season. The signees are: Megan Hatter (F, 6-0, Howell, MI/Howell) and Senee Shearer (G, 5-7, Detroit, MI/Pershing). Hatter is the sister of current Titan, Heather Hatter.
