After almost a two-week break from competition, Detroit’s women’s tennis team traveled to Cincinnati to face Xavier, but the Titans came up short as the Musketeers won by a score of 6-1 on Sunday.
In doubles, freshman
Carolina Salas Espinosa (Monterrey, Mexico/Preparatoria No. 7) and sophomore
Amanda Cornwell (Waterford, MI/Kettering) were paired together at the No. 1 slot and captured an 8-7(5) win over Kelsey Kinnard and Tifanie Treece.
Freshman
Victoria Baca (Quito, Ecuador/El Sauce) earned UDM’s point at No. 6 singles as she defeated Christie Pleiman by a score of 6-4 and Baca won the second set by default.
The Titans will return to action on Friday when they open up Horizon League play at Wright State in Dayton at 6 p.m.
