The official end of the year statistics from the NCAA were recently released and Detroit senior
Brigid Mulroy (West Bloomfield, MI/Marian) accomplished something no other Titan has done in the history of women's basketball, lead the NCAA in a statistical category.
Mulroy topped all Division I student-athletes this season in three-point field goal percentage connecting on 50.5 percent (92-of-182) of her attempts. Her 92 triples were tied for the sixth most in the country, while she also finished 13th with 3.0 3-pointers per game.
With Mulroy leading the way, the Titans were 29th in three-point field goal percentage (36.0) and 63rd netting 6.3 threes per game.
Two other Titans were also in the top echelon in certain statistical marks as sophomore
Jalesa Jones (Detroit, MI/Pershing) was 29th in assists (5.1), while sophomore
Yar Shayok (Ottawa, ON/Hillcrest) finished 38th pulling down 9.7 rebounds per game.
In the Horizon League, UDM finished leading the league in field goal percentage defense (38.6) as well as defensive rebounding (25.1), while taking second in three-point field goal percentage and three-point field goals made.
Besides her long range capabilities, Mulroy led the league at the free throw line hitting 88.6 percent and was second in minutes played (35.9) and fifth in scoring (13.9).
Jones led the HL in assists, while sophomore
Lauren Allen (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester) was seventh handing out 4.1 helpers per game. Shayok led the conference in defensive rebounding (6.9) on her way to finishing second in total rebounding.
