Pronk Second, Titans Third After First Day Of Golf At Indiana

Junior Britt Pronk (London, ON/St. Thomas Aquinas) sits in a second-place tie and the Titan men's golfers are third as a team after Saturday's first two rounds of the adidas Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, IN.

Pronk grabbed the first-round lead with a sparkling 67 during heavy morning rains and followed with an afternoon 73 for a 140 total, two shots behind host Indiana's Chase Wright. Titan senior David Byrne (Essex, ON/Essex) is five strokes back of his teammate (74-71-145) and is in a tie for 10th place individually after the first 36 holes.

Detroit stood second as a team after opening the tournament with a 289, then fell behind hard-charging Ball State by three strokes after posting a 296 in the afternoon round. Indiana holds a 12-shot lead over the field.

The Titans will be paired with Indiana and Ball State for Sunday's final round, which begins at 9:00 a.m. at the IU Championship Course.
