Titans’ Mulroy Receives Prestigious Academic-Athletic Award

UDM women's basketball senior Brigid Mulroy (West Bloomfield, MI/Marian) earned another reward for her stellar college career today as she was named an honorable mention member of the 2010 Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Team.

A select group of 26 men and women were honored by the Division I-AAA ADA for their academic and athletic accomplishments. Basketball players from all Division I-AAA ADA member institutions – the 95 Division I institutions that do not sponsor football – are eligible for these prestigious awards.

Each of the nominees was required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and have been a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. He or she must have reached junior athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution (true freshmen, redshirt freshmen and ineligible athletics transfers are not eligible) and have completed at least three academic semesters or five quarters at the nominated institution. Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.

Mulroy capped off a tremendous season last week by winning the 22nd Annual State Farm College Three-Point Championship for women in Indianapolis. That came on the heels of Mulroy leading the nation with her .505 three-point accuracy for 2009-10.

She was named first-team All-Horizon League after leading the Titans to a 17-14 season. Mulroy averaged a team-best 13.9 points per game and netted a career-high 27 points against nationally-ranked Michigan State. She ended her career sixth in the Detroit record book by making 160 three-pointers during her four college seasons.

Academically, Mulroy has a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, majoring in business administration.
