Titan women's basketball standout Brigid Mulroy (West Bloomfield, MI/Marian) added to her list of post-season accolades as she was inducted into the Catholic High School League Hall of Fame on Monday night at the CHSL and Catholic Coaches Association annual awards dinner.
The Hall of Fame began inducting graduating college seniors in 1976 in recognition of the individuals' outstanding high school and college careers. In recent years, the induction committee has also included a few “alumni” athletes each year. These are given to those that the committee might have overlooked or those that played and graduated prior to 1976.
Mulroy was one of five former CHSL athletes recognized for their successful careers at the banquet held at Fern Hill Country Club in Clinton Township. The others are Tom Beer, a St. Ambrose H.S. football player who began his college career at U-D before moving on to the University of Houston and, later, the NFL; Kyle Gendron (Divine Child, Grand Valley State); Sarah Jaeger (Ladywood, Michigan State) and Angela Kaiser (Our Lady of the Lakes, Saginaw Valley State).
Mulroy was a three-year varsity letter winner in basketball while at Marian, playing under former Titan great Mary Cicerone, and led her team to a pair of Catholic League Division Championships and district championships. Cicerone and UDM head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher were Mulroy's presenters.
Mulroy came to UDM as a walk-on and quickly began to flourish, particularly as a senior as she ended her career being voted first-team All-Horizon League, led the nation in three-point field goal percentage (.505) and received the President's Award as the University's most outstanding senior female student-athlete.
Additionally, she was named an honorable mention member of the 2010 Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Team and won the 22nd Annual State Farm College Three-Point Shooting Championship for women during the men's Final Four in Indianapolis.
Mulroy averaged a team-best 13.9 points per as a senior. She ended her career sixth in the Detroit record book by making 160 three-pointers during her four college seasons. Academically, Mulroy posted a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, majoring in business administration.
