Four days of non-stop basketball action concluded on Saturday as the latest Titan basketball camp ended in the
Ray McCallum Team Shoot Outs.
“It is great to get these kids on campus and get them the experience of playing in Calihan Hall and seeing what the University is like up close,” said head coach
Ray McCallum. “There has been some great competition here as we had some of the top programs in the state and that has made for some exciteming basketball.”
The camp, which was broken down into two, two-day sessions with the first one running on Monday and Tuesday and the last on Friday and today, featured hundreds of high school athletes from all over the state of Michigan, as well as Canada, competing against each other on the Titan home court.
Each team had five guaranteed games with pool play to start the competition and a tournament ending it with a trophy handed out to the winning teams. Calihan Hall was divided into three courts with contests played simultaneously with running clock, substitutions and live referees.
The event officially concludes camps hosted by the Detroit men's program, but those still interested in summer ball can look into two former Titan Hall stars' camps in the Rashad Phillips Basketball Skills Camp and the Willie Green "Homecoming" Basketball Camp, with the latter hosted right here in Calihan Hall.
