Clarridge Climbs On Final Day Of Canadian Amateur

UDM senior golfer Jeff Clarridge (Barrie, ON/Bear Creek) got off to a torrid start in Sunday's final round with birdies on four of his first seven holes en route to a 22nd-place finish at the 106th Canadian Men's Amateur Championship.

Clarridge rebounded nicely after falling out of the Top 10 on Saturday, and broke par for the third time in four days during the last round of the championship, which was hosted at the London Hunt and Country Club. He ended the tournament with a 68-70-81-70-289 card. Clarridge had finished fifth at the Ontario Men's Amateur earlier this summer to claim his place in this week's international field along with fellow Canadians and other competitors from New Zealand, Scotland and the United States.

A second Titan, senior Britt Pronk (London, ON/St. Thomas Aquinas), also made a strong showing at his national championship. After a slow start Sunday, the All-Horizon League senior fired back with three birdies on the inward nine to post a 70-74-71-75-290 finish before the hometown crowd. He claimed 28th place.

Clarridge, Pronk and the rest of the Titans will soon be back on campus as they begin defense of their 2010 Horizon League Championship.
