Summer lacrosse has served the Titans well this year with several student-athletes standing out in the Canadian Junior Box Lacrosse season and, to finish off the final prep work before arriving for the fall semester, incoming freshman
Tom Masterson (London, ON/St. Thomas Aquinas CCS) will play for the U-19 Team Ontario squad at the Junior Field Nationals.
The event will be held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from Sept. 3-5.
The Ontario Lacrosse Association selected Masterson as part of its 23-man roster following a three-month tryout process. He originally attended the ID Selection camp in April with 35 players eventually moving on to the final showcase, the Red and White game on June 20. After that, the OLA made its final cuts for the championships.
Masterson led the London Jr. Stangs in scoring at the attack position in 2008 with 50 points on 46 assists and four goals and came back to tally a team-high 54 points on 44 helpers and 10 goals in 2009, leading his team to a U-19 Ontario Division III championship.
He also played in the Ontario Junior B Box Lacrosse League the past two summers, and was the London Blue Devils' top scorer in 2010 with 16 goals and 56 points, while finishing with 26 assists and five markers in 2009.
