2010-11 Schedule
The Detroit Titan women's basketball program officially released their 2010-11 schedule on Thursday. UDM will start the season with a trio of home games at Calihan Hall against Oakland, Ball State, and Western Michigan.
The Titans' non-conference schedule features two Big Ten opponents and a handful of Mid-American Conference schools. The regular season home opener will be against in-state rival Oakland on Friday, Nov. 12. The Titans will then host back-to-back home games against MAC foes Ball State and Western Michigan.
After the game against Western Michigan the Titans will play their next nine out of ten games on the road. The road trip begins with Michigan State on Nov. 21. The Spartans were ranked in the top 25 last year and they earned their second straight NCAA Tournament bid. Detroit will face another MAC school after MSU when they travel to Bowling Green, OH to face the Falcons.
Detroit will kick off the month of December with a trip to New Orleans, LA to face both St. Joseph's (PA) and Tulane at Fogelman Arena. The Titans face St. Joseph's on Saturday night, Dec. 4, and then come back to battle Tulane on Sunday.
The Titans will return from the trip with three additional road games against Eastern Michigan, IPFW, and Michigan. The Wolverines didn't make the NCAA Tournament last year, but they had a successful run in the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). U-M won four games in the WNIT before falling to Miami (Fla.) in the semi-finals.
Horizon League play begins on the road at Green Bay. The Titans face the Phoenix on Friday, Dec. 31st, and stay in Wisconsin for a matchup against Milwaukee on Sunday. The conference home opener will feature the Titans playing against Valparaiso on Thursday Jan. 6. The second game of that week will be played against Butler on Saturday.
Detroit's non-conference schedule will have the Titans traveling for nearly a month straight, but the Horizon League schedule shaped up nicely for UDM. Detroit will play five of its final seven games at home. Calihan Hall will host Wright State, Youngstown State, and Cleveland State during mid February, and the regular season will conclude on March 5 with a home game against Green Bay.
Times for both conference and non-conference games will be released at a later date.
