ON TAP
The Detroit Titans head to Ohio for tilts at Cleveland State and Youngstown State on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.  CSU sits in a three-way tie for second place in the Horizon League standings.  YSU will be the final HL team that Detroit has yet to face this season.  Beginning next week, the Titans will face each league school one more time at the opposite venue in addition to a Feb. 19 Bracket Buster game.

ABOUT CLEVELAND STATE
The Vikings, on the strength of a 12-0 start to the season, are 16-3 overall and 5-2 in the Horizon League.  CSU owns a perfect 10-0 record at home this season.  Norris Cole easily leads the League with his 20.6 points per game, a mark that ranks 19th in the nation (as of Jan. 16).  He also leads the league in steals per game (2.4) and is second in assists (4.7 apg).

WHO'S NEXT?
Detroit stays on the road and heads to Youngstown State Saturday night for its second straight doubleheader.  The Penguins are 7-10 and 1-6 in the conference with their only league win coming Dec. 30, a two-point victory over the league's lone winless team, UIC.

ON THE “HORIZON”
The Titans have a tough road ahead, playing six of the next nine on the road and eight of the final 12 away from Calihan Hall.  Road swings through Ohio (Cleveland State, Youngstown State) and Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Green Bay) are up next.  After three straight home games in a five-day span, Detroit heads to Indiana (Valparaiso, Butler).

JOLLY OL' SAINT NICK
OK, so it's past Christmas-time, but Nick Minnerath continues to etch his name on the “good” list.  Sunday against Valparaiso, the junior transfer recorded career bests with 23 points and 12 rebounds.  The 20+ point effort was his third in his last five games.  His rebound total was boosted by eight offensive boards.

HOW CAN I ASSIST YOU?
Freshman Ray McCallum has seen the floor well this season as he sits in third place in assists per game in the Horizon League (4.3).

NEARING THE CENTURY MARK
Junior LaMarcus Lowe blocked one shot Saturday vs. Valparaiso, giving him 17 games with at least one block and giving him a new career high for blocks.  Lowe tallied block No. 49 and is now just three blocks shy of 100 for his career going into Thursday's game.

AMONG THE NATIONAL LEADERS
Several Titans have their names appear among the NCAA Division I leaders in the Jan. 16 report.  As the time of the release, junior Eli Holman had eight double-doubles, which ranked 20th through games of Jan. 16.  He also was 13th in rebounds per game (10.4). LaMarcus Lowe was 20th in the NCAA with his 2.7 blocks per game clip.

NCAA's TOP FRESHMEN
Ray McCallum is among the best rookies in all of NCAA Division I, scoring 15.2 points per game through his first 19 games.  That total is 6th among freshmen in the country through Jan. 16.  Listed below are the eight freshmen who are among the top 250 scorers in the country heading into this week.
