DETROIT -- The Detroit women's basketball team has been hard at work for the past few weeks getting ready for the season and now, the Titans will look to show the efforts of their training in Saturday's exhibition over Madonna. The preseason affair is part of a basketball doubleheader with the women facing the Crusaders at 4:30, and the men to follow against Madonna at 7:00 p.m.
After practice on Thursday, DetroitTitans.com caught up with junior guard
Demeisha Fambro and freshman forward
Shareta Brown about practice and the game.
Demeisha Fambro....
On practice and the opening exhibition.
“We are really coming together as a team and building great chemistry. The game is going to let us know where we are and what we need to do to get ready for our season opener in the WNIT. We have been practicing hard and now we need to go out there, play hard and see what adjustments we need to make for the season.”
On the match-up against Madonna.
“We can't take any game or opponent lightly. Madonna is going to come here looking to get us so we need to make sure we are ready, focused and prepared.”
About finally playing a game instead of practice.
“I have been looking forward to playing in a game all summer. We work so hard in practice, but I know everyone is ready to go out there and play in a game against someone in a different uniform.”
Shareta Brown on....
What the team is looking to get out of the exhibition game.
“We just want to come out and play as a team, communicate and win. We have been working really hard on just playing together and now we need to take that into the game.”
Any nerves going into her first collegiate game.
“I think I am going to be nervous, but once the game starts, I will be fine. It is my first game so I am sure I will be nervous and just really excited to play."
