FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Detroit found out the next part of its Preseason WNIT journey as the Titans will battle Drexel on Friday, Nov. 18, in the first round of the tournament's consolation bracket. The game will take place at Akron with the host Zips facing Howard in the other half of the draw.

Game time for Friday is set for 5 p.m., at the James A. Rhodes Arena with the Akron-Howard contest set for 7:30. On Saturday, the losers of the first-round games will square off at 5 p.m., with the winners meeting at 7:30.

Drexel – out of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) - dropped its opening-round game at home to Long Island, 60-52. Junior Hollie Mershon netted a career-high 26 for the Dragons, but Drexel shot just 16-of-51 (31%) for the game.

The Dragons are a veteran group with four seniors and nine upperclassmen and were picked to finish fifth in the CAA Preseason Poll. They are led by senior Kamile Nacickaite, a second team All-CAA selection as a junior and a preseason first-team pick after averaging 17.6 ppg., last season.  She also finished third last year in the NCAA in three-point percentage hitting 47% (75-of-157).

Drexel was 19-13 a year ago and earned a bid to the Postseason WNIT. The Dragons become the 11th team on the Titan schedule that earned a postseason bid a year ago.
