DETROIT— Detroit Titan Athletics will honor
Brigadier General Michael A. Stone for his academic and athletic success at the University of Detroit and for his commitment to the Armed Forces, presenting him with the Athletic Director's Distinguished Alumni Award. He will receive the award in a special ceremony during the Titans' game on Dec. 3 at Calihan Hall. A four-year cross country and track/field member, Stone excelled in the classroom while participating in the R.O.T.C. program at U of D and earned the General George Marshall Leadership Award as the top ROTC graduate.
With a Bachelor of Arts in History from U of D and a Juris Doctorate from Detroit College of Law, Stone earned the rank of Brigadier General on April 1, 2010 after serving combat tours of duty during two wars in Iraq. A member of the Veterans Foreign Wars, American Legion, and multiple other military organizations, Stone will be recognized during the Detroit Titans men's basketball game versus Cleveland State.
