ON TAP
Detroit will play its second straight ranked SEC opponent when No. 17/16 Mississippi State travels to the Motor City Saturday for a noon tip.  The Titans are in the midst of a stretch of six of seven games in front of the home faithful at Calihan Hall.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
MSU has ripped-off nine straight wins following its lone loss of the season to Akron back on Nov. 9.  MSU has already played nine of its first 11 games at home with Saturday's game being the first true road test.  The Bulldogs played a pair of games in New York City for the 2KSports Classic, dispatching two ranked squads, No. 19 Texas A&M and No. 15 Arizona.  Dee Bost carries a team-best 18.5 points per game average while Arnett Moultrie adds 17.1 a night to go along with 11.3 rebounds.

THE SERIES WITH MSU
Detroit won the first game in the series, a 86-62 victory in the 1968-69 season.  The last game in series was a game at "The Hump" last year, an 82-76 win for Mississippi State.  Jason Calliste hit 4-of-5 from three-point range for a team-high 20 points for the Titans.  Three other Detroit players were in double figures: Chase Simon (17), Ray McCallum (16) and Nick Minnerath (12).  MSU's Ravern Johnson led all scorers with 25.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Detroit plays its final non-conference game until the ESPN BracketBusters in February when it hosts Alabama State on Dec. 22.  Horizon League play resumes Dec. 29 when the Titans head to the Windy City for stops at UIC (Dec. 29) and Loyola (Dec. 31).

LAST TIME OUT
Detroit couldn't recover from a sluggish start as host No. 16/15 Alabama gained a 62-54 win on Sunday.  The Titans trailed 12-1 to start the game and trailed by as many as 22 in the first half but closed the gap late as time ran out.  Ray McCallum led the Titans with 13 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.  Doug Anderson added 12 points while Chase Simon added 10.  Eli Holman had nine points and nine rebounds and LaMarcus Lowe led all players with 10 rebounds.

RANK AND FILE
The Titans continue a tough stretch of games, facing some of the nation's best as they traveled to No. 16/15 Alabama Sunday and now face No. 17/16 Mississippi State this Saturday.  This season's schedule has featured a pair of schools from two power conferences: BIG EAST (Notre Dame, St. John's) and SEC (Alabama, Mississippi State).

GETTING OFFENSIVE (ON THE GLASS)
Detroit had 18 offensive rebounds in the loss at Alabama Sunday, its highest total this season.  The Titans two high rebounders combined for 10 of them as LaMarcus Lowe had six and Eli Holman had four.

FREEBIES COMING EASY
The Titans lead the Horizon League in free throw shooting at 73.7 percent heading into Saturday.  Three Titans are in the top 10, topped by the HL's best free-thrower to date Doug Anderson, who carries a hefty .892 percentage.  Jason Calliste (.781) is seventh with Ray McCallum (.778) eighth in the latest rankings.

THE MAGIC NUMBER: 90
Detroit racked-up 92 points in the win vs. Western Michigan Dec. 8, already the fourth time the Titans have surpassed the 90-point plateau.  To put it in perspective, Detroit managed that feat just four times all of last season and had just eight 90-point games combined in the eight years prior to 2010-11.  Detroit has won 46 straight when it hits the 90-point barrier, dating all the way back to the 1988-89 season.
