Detroit was last in action on Dec. 8, as the red, white and blue nearly erased a 19-point deficit in a 61-51 setback against Michigan. The Titans trailed by 19, 31-12, late in the first half, before they began chipping away at the U-M lead. A 20-8 run in the second period eventually got UDM within two, 52-50, with 3:15 left, but that was as close as it got.

Freshman Shareta Brown recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Senee Shearer came off the bench to tally a career-high 15 points connecting on a career-best five 3-pointers.  The Titans also tied a school record in the game attempting 30 3-pointers against the Wolverines.

TITANS VS. MASTODONS
This will only be the sixth career meeting between the two schools that are just a few hours away from each other. The Titans won the first four in the series, but the Mastodons ended that streak last season with a 78-66 victory.
UDM is 2-0 all-time in the Motor City against IPFW with wins in 2002 and 2008. The first career meeting was during the 2001-02 campaign – IPFW's first year in Division I – as the red, white and blue handed the Mastodons a 90-72 loss.

ABOUT IPFW
IPFW is 4-6 on the season and 2-0 in the Summit League. The Mastodons might as well be in the Horizon League as Detroit is the fourth HL school on its schedule. IPFW defeated Butler earlier in the year, 68-60, but has fallen to Youngstown State (91-81) and Valparaiso (64-43). The Mastodons have also played seven of their first 10 games at home.

They have four players in double figures in scoring and have tallied a little more than 70% of the team's points through the first 10 games. A first team All-Summit League selection last season, Stephanie Rosado – who missed the first three games due to an injury – tops the team at 15.9 points per game. Erin Murphy is second on the team in scoring at 13.8 ppg. Anne Boese is tallying 13.4 points, while Amanda Hyde is averaging 10.3 ppg.

The Mastodons are coming off a 20-win season and an appearance in the Women's Basketball Invitational postseason tournament.

The Mastodons were also picked to finish fourth in the Summit League's preseason poll.

AGAINST THE SUMMIT
Detroit has played two teams currently in the Summit League in its history and has posted a 14-7 record versus those clubs.

Detroit is 10-6 against Oakland and 4-1 against IPFW.

FINALLY, WERE HOME
Detroit played seven of its first eight away from Calihan Hall, but will now have the luxury of staying in town for awhile.

The match-up against Michigan last week started a three-game homestand, with Eastern Michigan finishing that up on Tuesday.

The Titans are also in a stretch of playing five of six on the newly-dedicated Dick Vitale Court at Calihan Hall, with its lone road trip just a short trek away to Western Michigan.

AGAINST THE HOOSIER STATE
Detroit has done a fine job when it comes to taking on teams from the Hoosier State. UDM is 67-46 all-time against schools in Indiana, including a 1-1 mark this season.

The Titans downed Ball State on the road, 87-68, and lost at Indiana State, 64-62, in the season opener.

SHE KEEPS GOING & GOING & GOING
Freshman Shareta Brown has been in double digits in scoring through the first nine games of the season - and her career.

The nine straight to open the year are the most by a Titan in the last 20 years.

It has not been about just getting in double digits either as she has two games with 20+ points and eight games with 14+ points.

Her lowest scoring output of the season was the 11 markers she had at Michigan State.

TOUGH SCHEDULE TO START
The Titans' first nine opponents of the season have combined for a 48-35 (.578) record so far with seven teams sporting marks of .500 or better.

THE FIRST IS THE TOUGHEST
Sophomore Senee Shearer came into the Michigan game 0-of-14 from three and then missed her first three 3-pointers in that game.

But once the second year player had one fall, there was no stopping her as she finished the game with a career-high 15 points hitting a career-best 5-of-10 from three-point range - all in the second half.

BOMBS AWAY
The Titans tied a school record with 30 3-pointers against Michigan, hitting a season-best eight in the process.

Detroit tied the record for the sixth time and the first since going 9-of-30 against Cleveland State at home last season.

ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Freshman Shareta Brown tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds against Michigan.

Brown is currently tied for the league lead in double-doubles with Green Bay's Julie Wojta.

She is also third in the HL in field goal percentage (53.3%), fourth in scoring (16.7) and fifth in rebounding (9.4).

BLOCK PARTY
Junior Yar Shayok is tied for fourth in the Horizon League with 1.2 blocks per game.

Her 11 blocks are also the third-most in the conference.

JONES IN AT FIVE
Senior Jalesa Jones is now fully entrenched in fifth place in the Titan record books with 386 career assists.

She is just 13 away from the fourth place mark of 399 - held by Michelle James (1998-02) - and 101 away from the school record.

If she does break the Titan record of 486 - held by Mary Lillie - she will pass another familiar name in current head coach Autumn Rademacher (3rd-429)

As a freshman, Jones had 84 assists, while collecting 159 as a sophomore and 112 last year.

For her career, she is tallying 3.7 apg., and is currently tied for fifth in the conference with 3.4 assists per game.

TITANS DOMINATING THE BOARDS
Detroit has outrebounded its opponent in seven of its nine games on the year and owns a +5.0 rebounding margin on the season, best in the Horizon League.

Against Bowling on Nov. 22, UDM posted a 56-31 advantage on the boards, including a 24-8 mark on the offensive glass. Freshman Shareta Brown had 18 rebounds, while junior Yar Shayok compiled 13 and those two alone had the same amount of boards as BGSU.

The 56 rebounds are the most by a Horizon League team this season.

The +25 rebounding margin was also the most by the Titans since posting a +24 mark (55-31) against Youngstown State last season.

The Titans also dominated Indiana State to the tune of a 40-24 effort in the season opener.

On the year, the Titans are averaging 38.7 rebounds per game, including 14.1 offensive rebounds per contest, second in the HL.

ALMOST A SCHOOL RECORD
Detroit went to the free throw line a season-low four times against Michigan, just two away from a school record.

The four times - all by Shareta Brown who hit three of the them - were the fewest by UDM since going 3-of-3 from the charity stripe at Auburn on Nov. 11, 2007.

OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
The Titans scored 87 points in a road victory last week at Ball State. In doing so, the Titans put up a bunch of impressive numbers.

- The Titans' 87 points were the most since they netted 90 last season in a 90-76 win at Milwaukee. The number is also the second-most by an HL team on the year.

- The 48 second-half points were also the most by the Titans this season in a half.

- The 25 assists were the most since they had 25 in a 76-75 double overtime triumph at Eastern Michigan in 2008. They are also the second most a team in the HL has had this year behind the 26 Milwaukee had against Chicago State.

- Detroit shot a league-best 61.8% (34-of-55), the highest shooting percentage since UDM hit 62% (31-of-60) against Western Michigan on Dec. 30, 1997. The 34 field goals are also the most in the conference this season and the most since netting 30 against Youngstown State on Feb. 27, 2010.

- Along with the 61.8% shooting, the Titans were an amazing 75% in the second period connecting on 21-of-28 from the field.

CHANAHL FROM DOWNTOWN
With a pair of triples in her last game at Michigan State, junior Chanahl Putnam has now hit a 3-pointer in all eight games that she has played in.

She started the year with three treys in her first three games and kept the streak alive with one in the next four and two at Michigan State.
