DETROIT, Mich.-- University of Detroit Mercy junior guard
Chase Simon was recently named the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight National Player of the Week for his performance in a pair of Titan wins last weekend. Simon charted back-to-back 20-point efforts as Detroit bested UIC and Loyola, respectively, at Calihan Hall.
Simon helped the Titans shake out of a slump with a perfect thre-gmae homestand Thursday through Monday. The highlight for Simon was a season-high 28-point output against Loyola Saturday in a JBS win. He led the team for the second straight night. Over the weekend wins, Simon averaged 24.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals, while shooting 19-35 from the field and 7-8 from the foul line.
It is the second such honor for Simon in his career after he earned the weekly accolades last season (Feb 2). He is the second Titan to win the award this year after junior center
Eli Holman was the national winner on Nov. 29.
