HLN Interview

DETROIT -- Titan freshman Shareta Brown (Pontiac, MI/Grand Blanc) joined Will Haskett of the Horizon League Network on Tuesday for a quick chat via skype. Brown is one of the reasons that the Titans have won nine of their last 13 games and stand in second place in the Horizon League with a 5-2 record.

Brown has had a fantastic start to her rookie year and currently leads the team in scoring (15.6), rebounding (8.7) and field-goal percentage (56.6%). She has tallied seven double-doubles on the year and has been in double figures in scoring 16 games times in the Titans' 19 games.

She broke the Titan freshman record with 31 points against Loyola on Jan. 7 and became just the eighth player in school history to post 18+ rebounds in a game with 18 boards against Bowling Green on Nov. 22.

She currently leads the Horizon League and is 18th in the nation in field-goal percentage, while standing sixth in the HL in scoring and eighth in rebounding.

Brown is not the only Titan leading the league in a statistic as senior Jalesa Jones (Detroit, MI/Pershing) tops the conference in assists (4.8), a number that has her ranked 50th in the country. She is also tied for third with a 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio.
