MATCH RESULTS

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The women's tennis team played a home contest against the Xavier Musketeers (2-1) Saturday evening at the Franklin Athletic Club. The Titans (0-3) fell by a 6-1 score as the match was part of a doubleheader with the men's team.

Detroit fought to the end in doubles play as the No. 1 Titan pairing of Amanda Cornwell and Elena Strakhova fell in a close 8-6 head-to-head match-up and the No. 2 Titan duo of Chloe Karoub and Raina Halabi were narrowly edged out in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-5).
 
In singles, Cornwell posted a 6-3, 6-3 straight set victory over Kally Alkire of Xavier. It was the 28th career singles win for Cornwell.
 
The Titans will head to Muncie, IN this weekend for a dual-match with Ball State set for Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
