DETROIT (10/17/2012) -- More than a week after the Horizon League preseason polls and awards were released, UDM picked up another pair of honors as two Titans were tabbed preseason All-Horizon League by CollegeSportsMadness.com.

Sophomore forward Shareta Brown was named to the first team, while junior Senee Shearer was selected to the second team.

For Brown, the awards keep coming in as she was named First Team All-HL in the conference's preseason poll and just missed being the Player of the Year by a single point. As a freshman, Brown had one of the best years not only in school history, but by any freshman in Horizon League history. She was the Horizon League Co-Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-League selection after finishing fourth in the league in scoring (18.0) and eighth in rebounding (8.8). She also posted a school record 611 total points and led the HL and was fifth in the NCAA in field goal percentage (55.9%).

Shearer was one of the top scorers in the league in the last 20 games and ended the year second on the team in scoring at 11.1 points per game. The long-range shooter was third in the conference in three-point field goals (75) and third in the HL, and 59th in NCAA, in three-point field goals per game (2.27). Her 75 3-pointers on the season ranked second all-time on the Titan single-season list.

The Titans were picked to finish second in the Horizon League preseason poll, garnering a pair of first-place votes. UDM returns eight letterwinners and three starters from last year's squad that went 20-14, 14-4 in the HL, reaching the conference championship game.
