DETROIT (12/10/2012) --
Sophomore Shareta Brown poured in a school record 43 points, and the Titan offense overwhelmed Lourdes to the tune of a 101-50 victory on Monday night. It was the first Titan 100-point regular-season game since 1999 and UDM's largest margin of victory since a 70-point, 115-45, contest against Wayne State in 1986.

Brown was 17-of-22 from the field – also a school record – and 9-of-10 from the free throw line as she first broke Cassandra Pack's Calihan Hall record of 39 points against Xavier on Jan. 12, 1987. Brown then carried on and set the new park passing Jeanie Hill's 42 points scored at Northern Illinois on Feb. 15, 1997.

The 43 points also ties her with IPFW's Amanda Hyde – the Titans' opponent next week – for the most by a player in Division I this year.

All nine players for Detroit scored with freshman Rosanna Reynolds next in line with 13 points, while senior Demeisha Fambro added 11 points and seven rebounds. Senior Yar Shayok pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds and netted eight points and sophomore Audrey Matteson recorded a career-best 10 assists.

The Titans saw Lourdes hit some early three pointers, but Brown had 14 of her points in the first nine minutes of action as the Titans took a 23-13 lead. That came on the heels of an early 7-0 run that saw Detroit open its first double-digit lead of the game, 17-7.

Brown would then lead the charge on a 13-3 run by adding eight more points to push the red, white and blue's advantage to 17, 30-13, with eight minutes left in the first half, and UDM would jump out in front 48-25 at the half.

The second half was almost identical to the first as no matter who was on the floor, Detroit was scoring, which included 22 second-half points from Brown. Detroit slowly built its leads into the 30's and 40's and then used an 11-3 run in the final 3:45 to post the 51-point triumph.

Detroit hit a season-best 39 field goals (39-of-62) in shooting a season-high 62.9%. The defense held Lourdes to 30.4% from the field, while outrebounding the Gray Wolves, 42-25. UDM also had a season-high 26 assists in the contest and forced 22 turnovers.

Freshman Destiny Lavita-Stephens added seven points, a career-high five helpers and three rebounds, while junior Megan Hatter chipped in seven points and freshman Tayelor McCalister had six markers off the bench. Freshman DaVonna Bradford also posted her first collegiate points in the game and had two rebounds.

The Titans will now take the rest of the week off for finals and get ready for a short trip to IPFW next Tuesday. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m.
